Where could I get one of these from?

The strap-bridges on the left are of the type for the roof rack and the rubber toggle straps are the correct ones for the front-hinged Westfalia elevating roof as on my 1973 model-year; which would be used in conjunction with the offset strap bridge on the rear edge steel-roof aperture.

    Which oil

You might find it useful to read Richard Atwell's VW Type 2 technical pages about engine lubricating oils and their specifications: https://www.ratwell.com/technical/OilSelection.html The principal reason for the 3,000 miles or 5,000 kilometres oil-change intervals, was the lack of any proper...

    Brake Pedal - Lateral Play

If the bolt-thread is long enough, one might be able to use two nuts tightened against each other.

    Wanted: 14" Steel Wheel

I wasn't aware that any model-year of 1971~79 VW Type 2 with 112 mm PCD wheels, had wheels with a circular central hole!?! When I checked just a few years ago, 185 R14C commercial-van tyres were still readily available in Great Britain, but I anticipate that availability will decline and/or...

Parts Wanted Continental Roof Bed wanted

I don't know whether the roof-bed pillow-section supports of my 1973 model-year Westfalia Continental (manufactured during late-August or early-September 1972), might have originally have had plastic or rubber bungs on the ends, but there certainly weren't any when my father bought the vehicle...

    Wanted: 14" Steel Wheel

Only 15/20 years old! My set of five Michelin XZX, 185 SR14 Reinforced radial-ply tyres (load-index circa 95½) date from circa 1977/78, so are at least 45 years old. I was still driving on these perfect-condition tyres in mid-1992. The second-spare Michelin XZX, 185 R14 S Reinforced radial-ply...

    Wanted: 14" Steel Wheel

Have you yet measured & calculated the centre-bore diameter, PCD - pitch circle diameter & wheel-offset of your current unusable spare wheel? https://www.wheel-size.com/articles/centre-bore/ https://wheelssize.com/wheel-offset/calculator/ https://www.westerntowing.co.uk/pcd-calculation/...

    Wanted: 14" Steel Wheel

That just about sums it up! I too have a second 5½ x 14 inch spare steel-wheel, derived from a 1980~92 VW Transporter T3 model, which is identical to my original five 1973 VW Type 2's 5½ x 14 inch steel-wheels The South African built, 1992~2003 VW Transporter T3 models [There were no...

Parts Wanted Continental Roof Bed wanted

The Westfalia factory-standard, hinged pillow-section is much narrower than that! Make sure that it can actually be hinged upward into the service position, once one has climbed-up into bed in the elevating roof!?! Without the gaps at the sides, unless one hinged down the pillow-section, it...

Indicator lights on speedo face 1970 Bay Window

It was one of my contributions to VW Motoring magazine a few decades ago, which was published as a "Reader's Top Tip", earning me a £10 prize. I had long thought it illogical to have two direction-indicator tell-tale lights, which did NOT flash separately, according to whether one had activated...

    Don't see many of these...

    Sometime after 1979, the Mexican VW factory produced a "bay-window" T2c VW Type 2 with a 1•8 litre 4-cylinder, in-line, water-cooled diesel engine and front-mounted radiator

You assume correctly! Please keep in mind that not everyone is acquainted with the various different national and international conventions. Part of my professional remit as a teacher and technical writer / editor, has always been to question potential sources of confusion or ambiguity, so...

    Don't see many of these...

Malta had a unique British Empire coin - the one-third farthing (not to be confused with the half farthing or one-quarter farthing), of which one would need 3 x 4 x 240 (i.e. 2,880) to equal one pound Sterling. I have at least one specimen in my collection of coins, of the British Commonwealth...

    Don't see many of these...

I once drove a Bedford CF diesel-engined pickup during my 1976 university summer-vacation job at the Mobil Oil Company's Research & Technical Service Laboratory, where I worked in the Bitumen Section. The rest of my section came home drunk after lunch at the local pub where they had some topless...

Do you mean 6 mm, 10 mm & 16 mm OR 6 mm², 10 mm² & 16 mm², because they are NOT the same!?!

A few snapshots from Buses by the Bridge 27. “The bridge” refers to the London Bridge which, for some reason, is here in Arizona. About 600 buses.

If that 42,000 refers to US$42,000, then I would agree that it is more than a bit pricey! However, if the asking price is in Mexican Pesos, then that would certainly be more reasonable. https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=MXN

I presume this is one of the early 1968~79 VW Type 2 single-cab pickups, which preceded the introduction of the so-called "chicken-tax"!

Would I be right in thinking that Nuevo León in Spanish translates as New Lion in English, which seems a strange name to give a state, province or county, unless it's named after local wildlife such as a cougar or mountain lion? The rear licence plate appears to be in much better condition than...

    Removing heater tube

Have you considered the alternative of substituting a laminated, electrically-heated front windscreen, which are readily available in the UK for the 1968~79 VW Type 2? These should provide much more effective demisting & defrosting than using hot-air through the factory-standard dashboard vents...

How to tub a bay, anyone know or got any advice?

I cannot help wondering whether the driver & front passenger are of rather SHORT stature or the van roof is being raised to compensate for the reduced headroom!?! I also wonder whether one would be able to turn the steering to full lock without the tyres fouling on the bodywork!?! The...
