    White knuckle driving

Storm Agnes seems to have bypassed S. E. Essex, with hardly a leaf ruffled here on Canvey Island!

    Fogstar Lithium battery

The last time I had to call out the RAC, which was via an M25 roadside telephone to the motorway control room, the 1973 VW 1600 Type 3 engine had a completely seized alternator shaft. It took 2 hours for the RAC patrol to arrive and another 2 hours waiting for an RAC low-loader recovery vehicle...

    Tyre size and Handling

I would seriously question whether any 185/55 R14 tyres, have a close to adequate load rating for a 1968~79 VW Type 2 front axle, which should be at least a minimum of 505 kg for each tyre!

    Fogstar Lithium battery

No, it wasn't a spoof post. I was being completely serious. I have no immediate plans to acquire any form of mobile telephone, but if I eventually do, it would probably be a simple early-generation type with no superfluous bells & whistles.

    No numbers on engine cases

I am not sure what the DVLA policy would be regarding the use of the engine number from your original "knackered" crankcase on your new replacement crankcase. From a pragmatic perspective, this would probably be okay provided your existing crankcase is rendered unusable and scrapped.

    Busfest.

Munster Simms in Ireland, still manufacture the classic Whale-series foot and hand operated water pumps for motor-caravans, trailer-caravans and boats. Electric pumps are also available. https://www.whalepumps.com/rv/product-application-items.aspx?Category_ID=10007&FriendlyID=Manual-water-pumps...

Hot Engine and Oil light on advice needed

I used Mobil 1 fully-synthetic, SAE 5W/50, API SF & SG oil in the VW 1600 Type 1 style, AD-Series engine. Sometime in circa 1985 or 1986, I bought a job-lot of about 20 litres, of heavily-discounted (circa £4•50 or £5•00 instead of circa £12•50 per 4-litre can - approximately 1 US gallon)...

    Fogstar Lithium battery

I DO NOT possess any devices (including mobile telephones of any generation!) compatible with APPs or Blue Tooth, whatever they might be!?! I like my classic vehicles (i.e. 1973 VW "1600" Type 2 Westfalia Continental & 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300 "HL Special" | the only vehicles I possess) because...

    Anyone identify this?

I wasn't aware that Dormobiles had a roof-up warning switch & warning-device. My 1973 VW 1600 Type 2 Westfalia Continental elevating-roof, has Volvo 300-Series rear-hatch gas struts, one of which incorporates a very neat courtesy-light switch, which can be used as a roof-up warning switch.

    Fogstar Lithium battery

Given the susceptibility of lithium-ion batteries to vigorous combustion, if they overheat, I would be extremely wary of retro-fitting one anywhere in a 1968~79 VW Type 2, especially in the relatively hot engine compartment, close to the petrol tank!

    V5c query

If the basic colour-scheme has been changed, one is legally obliged to declare it, so if the traffic police stop you for whatever reason and your recorded vehicle details are inaccurate, you could find yourself in a "sticky" situation, even if it was a former owner who failed to notify the DVLA...

Vehicle For Sale For Sale 1971 £17,500

Unless one has an ultra-rare vehicle type, I suspect it's extremely unlikely that one would ever recoup the cost of parts and costed labour-time involved, in significantly restoring any vehicle. It's what one does for love rather than money.

    What oil?

I have two sizes of special moulded-plastic oil-filler jugs with long spouts. When not in use, I put old bread-loaf bags over the top to exclude dust, which would contaminate the residue of oil left in the jugs.

Vehicle For Sale For Sale 1971 £17,500

I suspect that the £20,000+ asking price might be discouraging inquiries!

    Smell of fuel inside campervan

If one's carburettor & inlet manifold suffer from severe icing, there is also a strong whiff of petrol inside the front cab; something I experienced with the Minnow Fish carburettor during the winters of 1987/88 and 1990/91.

    Smell of fuel inside campervan

I also encountered this, when one of my local acquaintances retro-fitted some second-hand campervan furniture into his 1974~79 VW Type 2, which resulted in him drilling three or four holes in his petrol tank!

    Sitting issues

I have Anderws-Maclaren "Gadabout" light-weight folding camping chairs, bought in the late-1970s I have recently seen examples of these, in various colour stripes (i.e. brown & white, red & white, green & white and blue & white) listed on British E-bay, at asking prices of circa £55 each...

    Vehicle Juddering whilst driving

Many years ago, I experienced violent juddering owing to a faulty governor-type rotor-arm, which shorted-out the HT ignition pulses to the spark-plugs at engine-speeds substantially below the 4,500 rpm threshold (corresponding to circa 30 mph in 4th gear!), which on our 1973 VW 1600 Type 2...
