    Window lift channel

When I did mine I did it on my own and just used soapy water, I'm not sure if it ever went fully in, I did tap carefully it with a rubber mallet. I've not had any issues since.

    Vehicle diagnostic tool

Yeah likewise I have an OBD2 reader, from Amazon about £10, that connects to my phone via bluetooth, can see diag codes etc and clear them if necessary. Was useful when I change the O2 sensor on my Mini and had to clear the code the faulty one had set off.

    Other activities ?

Another cyclist here been doing it all my life - BMX in the 80s, then mountain biking, then probably for the last 15 years, road. I joined a club about 5 years ago, which adds a bit of structure and means I've always got someone to go out with. Probably go once or twice a week, total up to about...

    How obsessed ?

I think I'm a 6 for the cleaning and about the same for the mech stuff. I very rarely drive with music so I can hear the engine. I have good intentions with the maintenance, but I'm easily distracted 🙂.

Who to trust fitting new clutch?

Midland Early Bay (Graham Lyle) did my clutch + fitted new gearbox last year some time. He's recently moved to Bolton. I would also recommend C J Motors in Bristol.

    What oil?

The only way I've managed to make it work is to use one of those plastic jugs with the flexible spouts, you mentioned earlier. Anything else seems to make the oil come out before I've got there. In fact same with all vehicles, if you have a new 5l of oil, then trying to pour it in the right...

Fuel Hose and the dreaded E10

I have some ethanol resistant hose from Cool Air, had it for 4 years and still fine. Also I only use Esso Synergy Supreme, which is ethanol free. BUT just checked their website and found this: We currently supply an ethanol-free Synergy Supreme+ 99 unleaded in some parts of the UK. From...

    Does anyone remember ?

I think that's always been a thing, I had a late bay in 1993 and it was the custom to stop for other broken down buses. And everyone did the VW wave.

    How often ?

I've been doing 2 or 3 a year. This year I didn't do Volksfest as March is too cold really for me. I've done the Air-cooled campout 4 times now and Dubs at the Castle 3 times. I was hoping to do the other Dubs at the Castle this year, depending on when my offspring need ferrying to University...

    Exhaust Wrap

Is it for sound reasons? My mate has a 1974 Porsche and it triggered the noise limit detector at the Nurburgring, 130db or something like that! Anyway wrapping it lowered the level by about 10db. He's still got ear defenders hanging from the roll cage though!

    Smallest aspect ratio 4 x 4 tyres on R15s

I'm running 14" 4x4 tyres on front 185/65, (90H - that the load rating) Michelin Cross-Climate, and C14 van tyres on back, the stiffer sidewalls are night and day compared to car tyres, which I had on before.

    Indicator dimmer switch or relay

Suspect mine is the same, I went to flash someone (with my headlights) and it didn't do anything the first time. I may try some contact cleaner first, maybe just dirt.

    Caffeine and Machine Air-cooled event...

This weekend there is an air-cooled appreciation event. https://caffeineandmachine.com/whats-on/acas-weekend/ I was thinking of going on Sunday probably for lunch so the 10:00 - 14:00 slot - looks like it may rain in the afternoon. Anyone else fancy meeting up?

Would you recommend the spring clips or the ones with a screw?
