Changing vacuum points distributor for Accuspark centrifugal electronic?

+1. I only use 009/centrifugal dist on high performance engines, when they have a big cam and low vaccum. On anything else the SVDA works better in my experience. Also i am not a fan of the electronic ignition modules, specially the Chinese as they go without any warning and earlier than one...

    Speedhut Gauges

You guys are making me jealous😁😁 Craig, that is really nice, never seen that gauge before😍 But i am like Karl, i love the Auto Meter gauges on more performance orientated stuff. For everything else, i like the functionality, look and price of the VDO Vision range. Abel

    Oil leak

Spraying brake cleaner has worked well for me when trying to find small leaks. The liquid dry very quick and allow you to find exactly where the leak comes from. Abel🤓

Blanking holes left by J tubes

There was a discussion on The Samba about blocking the holes; a very respected member had done loads of testing for the best cooling scenario and he found out that blocking completely the holes kind of messed the distribution of air and created some turbulence. He said after drilling a 1/2” hole...

    Oil pump help

That hole is there so VW could save material and also make the part not so heavy. Same with cases, heads, if they were all solid blocks they would be heavy and expensive. They used webbing as a way to make the case as strong as needed and and at the same time light. The reduction in material...

    68 bus rear chassis rust

I bought a complete rear section cut from Schofields, from the part where the main rails finishes by the torsion bar all the way to the back. The part you posted the link is to repair the main rails in the middle of the Bus. From the torsion bar towards the back the rail has a different size...

    1955cc engine spec

I have been using a good quality stock clutch for normal use with zero issues, but as Karlos said, if you could stretch your budget to a Kennedy stage 1 that would be an upgrade an also extra insurance. The stock pp would be border line with the extra torque and if one day you decide to start...

    1955cc engine spec

Steve did you receive your crank already? Check all the radiuses on the journals, they have to be really smooth and above all, present. Look for any flaws on the forging and if you find any defects or inconsistencies near the journals just send it back. If the above ticks all the boxes, install...

    1955cc engine spec

When i said a grain issue, i meant a flaw in the forging process which anyone, even the misinformed, has to agree that happens. Just because a crank is forged does not mean is unbreakable. I have seen with my own eyes, i am not being a keyboard warrior like many on the forums. Also the 4140...

    1955cc engine spec

Maybe there was a defect on the manufacturing, could be a grain issue, nobody x ray these as the price would be considerably higher. For that reason i decided not to use 4140 anymore. If there’s an issue with the manufacturing of the 4340 at least the material is stronger to begin with. Abel🤓

I have known Pete from Muddyfields for a while now and have done many engines for him/his customers, he does great work and will be probably painting my Bay when she gets finished with the welding. Abel

    1955cc engine spec

There was a post on FB not long ago, the guy posted pics of the broken crank and all. I personally asked him what brand it was and he showed a pic with the CB logo, said was a 4140. I could see by the darker colour. That’s why i was shocked too, i used a couple of those in some builds, but...

    1955cc engine spec

Hi Steve😃 Sorry for the late reply, haven’t seen this🤭 I normally get mine from Cool Air, 4340. I have seen a few 4140 cranks break in half. Last one i saw was a CB one😱 Abel🤓

    68 bus rear chassis rust

Hi😃 I have replaced that section in mine. Bought the rear cut section from Schofields, then removed spot welds from rails attaching to the body and re welded again. Looks daunting at first, but after removing the rusted metal i realized it was not so difficult. Loads of places to reference to👌 Abel
