    Dormobile and leisure battery questions

One of the Sussex club members is selling an original Dormobile table that 'clips' onto the side of the long unit. If you are interested I can put you in touch?

    New distributor problems

This still sounds like the HT leads are in the wrong place! Sorry for asking what may seem like a stupid question, Are you sure you checked the position of the rotor arm for cylinder 1 on the compression stroke, not the exhaust stroke? (I said it was probably a stupid question!)

    Oil cooler / oil pump

I've always found that my engine cools down stuck in motorway traffic!

    New distributor problems

Connect a 12v bulb across the coil connections, rotate the engine by hand with the ignition on. Does the bulb light and go out somewhere near your timing mark?

    Cracked / Nacked Crankcase?

Are you sure it isn't coming from the flywheel oil seal? Unless it is dripping a lot it is livable. I think most buses are 'moist' in that area anyway!

    Cracked / Nacked Crankcase?

To be honest, in that area of the case, if it is not pi$$ing oil it is probably OK.

    alternator for only outputting 12.8v

You might be able to just change the carbon brushes in the holder. You need to unsolder the wires going to the brushes. Measure the brush sizes and try and match them up. That's if you are keen not to have to buy a new alternator!

    Battery recommendation?

I bought a Varta battery on-line and it was cheaper than Halfords even with my trade card! Might be worth looking around first.

    Fellow Dormobile folks.

I've never had luck with etch primer. I seem to get rust breaking through the paint after a couple of years. That's after treating the rust with Jenolite after sanding it away. The best long lasting primer I use is Bondaprimer. It has always lasted the longest with repaired/repainted areas.

    Steering problem

Buses are fairly unstable in a crosswind anyway. You don't so much drive in one as tack like you do in a boat!

    Quick question on rear hubs...

Yes! but not to the same degree. Would still advise using a breaker bar and socket.

    Quick question on rear hubs...

Can I just say, Don't use a slugger to loosen the nuts! Every time you belt the slugger, it transmits a lot of shock force into the transmission via the drive shafts potentially damaging the diff/gearbox bearings. Buy a cheap 3/4" drive breaker bar and 46mm socket. Before removing the nuts...

Sold Assorted parts from our 1970 T2 Dormobile

Hi. I'm interested in the exhaust. How much and do you have the part number from when you bought it? Just wanted to make sure it will fit my single port engine. I can collect as I am in Brighton.

    Cigarette lighter.installation ?

Some of those tyre inflaters use quite a bit of power. I ran some 2.5mm flex direct from the battery via an in-line fuse on the positive. The ciggy socket is mounted in the rear bench seat. Even with this, if I run the inflater for more than a couple of minutes, the plug on the inflater gets...
