Hi Graham, thank you for your continued helpful advice. Do you have acceptable wear tolerance measurements of the worm drive?

Your Early Bay Picture of the Day .....

First outing in a couple months. Had a spacer made for the carb to intake manifold as the accelerator pump arm fouled slightly on the generator. While there checked the carb which was empty of fuel, filled it with fairly fresh super, but it didn’t want to start. Noticed that the timing sparked...

    Steering box, parts or replacement

Thanks Sparky. I was wondering if these were the European ones Graham was talking about or if they are indeed top quality 😄 I know my steering is a bit loose, but I still have a recon box from a VW show in California from 20years ago. Don’t know if it’s any good but will need to try it at some...

@Graham L could you have a UK engineering co. make the worm drives (LHD & RHD) for you?

    Fuel tank sender-Vw T2

Very true and then use panel adhesive to glue in an extended panel hatch. I’ve got to earth my fuel Sender again after doing a tank restoration and discovering that the earth wasn’t good enough after everything was back in again 🙄, so the full removal is on my list at some point again, but I...

    Fuel tank sender-Vw T2

I don’t weld but wouldn’t you need to take the tank out to weld a hatch in? Same probably if you used a grinder to cut the hole. It’s been a good few years since I’ve taken the engine and tank out, but it really isn’t that big of a deal. Gets you to look at everything closely again anyway which...

    Parts Wanted Crankshaft Pulley

Hi dubdubz, Thank you! Just had a look but couldn’t find a part no. I’ve had it powder coated maybe that’s why, unless the number is stamped on the rear. Stock Type 2 1600 single port.

    Parts Wanted Crankshaft Pulley

Hi there, My crankshaft pulley may have been slightly bent when I took it off the last time. The v-belt vibrates slightly, I’ve checked the generator pulley and that seems to run smoothly. Does anyone have or know where I can get a stock NOS pulley? Alternatively a very good condition genuine...
