    Changing gear box oil

I used a transfer pump which is a bit like a syringe, this is a bit easier than squeezing the bottles but in my experience its still a messy job. You can find them on E-Bay or here :https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2144-oil-pumps-and-syringes.aspx - they are also useful for sucking out fluids. Good...

    Delilah's VW Camper Furnishings

Hi, start of this thread says you are based in Huntingdon, is that still the case or have you moved ? I am about 30 mins away if you are still there and looking for door panels and rock and roll bed cushions (volkswares full width). Thanks Jon.

1971 Acoustic sound panels above engine

Hi, you can get the original style fibreboard from Rackhams of Ipswich (they have a facebook page and website), great fit and even came with the fixing rivets. Origanally it would have had fibreglass wool behind it but I replaced mine with a fireproof sound deadening foam with a foil surface.

Wanted - Indicator stalk for 71 Early bay

Any one got an idicator stalk switch for a 71 early bay ? Mine is the five wire type but would consider a USA version. Tried a pattern made one but was abolutely pants so sent it back to supplier. I appreciate these are very hard to find so willing to pay a sensible price.

    Justkampers vs VWHeritage

Fit the best quality you can afford mate. I have wasted hundreds of pounds on cheap bits over the years which have either failed, not fitted properly or had the chrome rusting before it even got through one winter. If you can't get good genuine new or used bits then C&C German quality seem about...

Found Not Longer looking - August 1971>Early Bay Fuel tank

Just seen this on Fleabay ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vw-60-litre-duel-tank-for-split-screen-or-early-bay/142549406101?hash=item21309b5195:g:xqMAAOSwyi9Z723Q I think Red9 or creative also do a custom alloy one if funds allow

    VWH Window lift channel

I had the same problem, have now bought the german quality from C&C -much better made, longer and with decent welds. Also replaced winder mechanisms with genuine use ones from guys on this forum as the p.o.s pattern one on the offside failed after a couple of winds up and down. As Vinvan says...

    Dodgy wiring

Sounds like a dirty or knackered column switch to me. Might be worth taking the switch off and giving it a blow out and squirt with wd40 . If not it may need replacing but check all your earth connections on the headlights / switches first as they are not a cheap item. Looks like Custom and...

    what is this

In this month's (September issue) "Camper and Bus" mag Hans Klapp touches on this very subject. My bus had a lot of the wires going to the plug cut or damaged over the years by previous "careful owners". I have just removed the remains of most of them to tidy up the rear light and engine bay...

Anyone been to Retrodub Suffolk before ?

Thinking of going on Saturday and combining it with a trip to Southwold later in the day. Just wondered whether the autojumble / traders are any good and what percentage of aircooled turnout is ? Any comments welcomed as it's about a 2 hour trip for me and not that interested in a field full of...

If you don't have one...get one!

The PD130 is a 1900cc VW lump commonly found in Golfs, Passats, Boras etc and also in the Audi, Seat and Skoda ranges. PD stands for Pump Duse - a type of direct injection. When I worked for VW they tried to convince everyone it was better than common rail technology - then they brought out...

one step forward and two back??

Petrol in oil can be either a knackered fuel pump or carb(s) leaking fuel due to too much fuel pressure or wrong float settings etc. I would try removing the dipstick and sniffing your new oil -does it still smell of fuel or has the level risen? If so you still have a fuel problem. If you whip...
