Fuel Hose and the dreaded E10

Automatic fire extinguisher in the engine bay is always a good idea, although you want to do everything you can to make sure you don’t use it!

    The best awnings ?

    Poor quality rocker cover gaskets

Ok finger crossed they are ok, at least if not you got the OG ones to try then. 👍

Belly Pans - Are They Necessary?

I think poptop campervans had the long side belly pans fitted because of the hole in the roof. It strengthens the body with them fitted. The smaller front ‘pedal pan’ is important to stop rain water coming in through the pedal holes onto the cab floor. It also protects the greased parts under...

    Poor quality rocker cover gaskets

Did you find a new pair of rocker covers or are you just using the same ones. ? The cork gaskets are good if they are actually made of cork! I always seal them to the covers but just smear a little oil on the valve side of the gasket. I’ve had the same gaskets on for about 3 years now and they...

    Todays job

Nice car! Is that a removable/convertible top? If it is you would probably have taken it off on such a sunny day. 😎

    Monty the Red Campervan

Changed the cable ties to steel ones, as advised by sparkywig above. The cable ties are doing their job of keeping the oil lines away from the exhaust 👍 Done a few miles and all good so far, although no long journeys yet. Seem to be constantly busy with DIY repairs at home at the moment which I...

    Insurance

I thought I’d add to this thread. I have also terminated my policy with just kampers insurance as they were messing me about with the agreed value. After having the agreed value with them for three years this year they were really crap to deal with. I couldn’t get in contact with them and they...

    What oil?

I use the jug with the flexible neck and screw cap on the top. Fill up one litter at a time. It’s difficult to use a funnel as there isn’t much room left above the funnel to get the filler bottle etc.

Fuel Hose and the dreaded E10

Interesting, how have you supported the hard line from the tank outlet to the firewall ? Did you use P clips, also is your hardline continuous through the firewall or a join there?

    US spec indicator stalk?

Sorry I can’t really help but it says on A Schofield site you won’t need to use all the wires for UK buses. To me that implies it fits. You could call them and ask maybe? If that one you have fits and used to work and the one for sale is the same, then it will probably be ok, I can’t see another...

    Smell of fuel inside campervan

If you get a strong smell of fuel whilst driving that’s not good and you should investigate the cause. As said above the breather pipes or the filler pipe could have perished if they haven’t been replaced. Also the tank could be rusty around the outlet at the bottom. In that case you would...

    Spring Valley Bus meets Corvair

That will deffo improve their visibility. It’s a bit of a tough one about where is best to have the gauges. I like to have my phone/satnav in the centre. Also when it’s really hot (usually France) I have a double 12V fan unit that sits there also.

    The best awnings ?

I can only speak from my experience with the Vango awning.😀 It’s obviously important to ensure that guy lines are correctly pegged out if the weather is bad. If the. Weather is fair I don’t usually bother with them. I personally haven’t had a problem with the Vango but I wouldn’t usually go...

    Engine hot?

Valve gaps should be 0.006 inch or 0.15mm. If you mean spark plug gap that is 0.6mm.
