    Carburretor Quiz

Yes that’s the one Solex, which are the original single carb. I never had one of those, before the twin carbs from Eurocarb, I had a 36/32 progressive carb which worked ok I thought. The twin carbs is on a new engine so I can’t compare the two different carb set ups.

Great to see you’re still out in the van. 😎

    Carburretor Quiz

Your carb may need refurbing, cleaning re jetting etc. However if you can afford to buy a genuine Weber carb that would be better. If you want a bit more power though go for the new twin Weber 34 ICT carbs. That’s what I have, and they are quite popular and don’t need re-tuning once set up...

    Starter motor stuck on

The Powerlite uses less electric than the stock starter so just any decent starter battery should work ok.

    Max Tyre Size for R14 (215? 205?)

If I remember correctly, the widest tyre you can fit on standard wheels is 205. Personaly I would go for 195's if you want a bit wider.

    Monty the Red Campervan

Little jaunt to Robin Hoods Bay with a warm weather forecast. We stayed at Hooks Farm Campsite. Maybe the last camp out this year. Haven’t got a window sticker for here yet 😅

    Rear Gear Shift Linkage

That looks similar to the CSP coupler but a bit cheaper in price.

    Heater tubes

If they’re the OG ones they are in two pieces, and can be threaded into each half to make the shorter or longer.

    1970 Dormobile

I had to drill new holes in the mud flaps as well. The buttys fitting kit is great. No need to drill any holes in the van body etc.

    Starter motor stuck on

I tried to use this but found that the shape of the starter alloy body didn’t work with this bolt. The head would rise up slightly and not be flat against the starter flange head. I thought that in time it would grind the alloy metal and become loose. That’s why I went with the Allen head bolt...

    Starter motor stuck on

The reason I asked about the top bolt, is that it’s very difficult to do on your own, as the bolt head is under the bus and the nut is in the engine bay. I am curious as to what bolt you have used. I bought an Allen head bolt and had a helper holding the nut, whilst I tightened up the bolt...

    Starter motor stuck on

The Powerlite doesn’t need the bush as it has a self supporting armature. If you last changed the bush 10 years ago you might need a new one fitting.

    Starter motor stuck on

If you have bolted it up tightly then something like Ozzie says. Does it start the engine ok? It has a different note compared to the Bosch starter. How did you solve the top bolt problem, did you you have another helper?

    Starter motor stuck on

It’s always one thing after another 😅. Sounds like you’re getting there. What starter did you go for ?

    Monty the Red Campervan

Washed, and brakes adjusted all round. Out for a quick run before the rain comes later. Brakes were good again, the new starter motor fires up the engine really quickly. :)

    Ben's 72 Bay

Aah! I see. Well you could sell it I suppose. Only a suggestion it's your choice entirely. :) I realise these diesel heaters are very much less money than the webasto petrol heater, but I'm glad I had mine fitted before the cheap ones were available.

    Ben's 72 Bay

Why not go for a webasto petrol heater? They are fed from the bus fuel tank. I know it’s a bit more money but it’s a simpler solution.
