Standard alternator belt size too long

Assuming the old belt has no reference number still visible, why not just measure it and buy a replacement?

    Slow ass 1600

If it's maxing out at 45 there's something seriously wrong and driving it in such a state is likely to cause overheating and damage. The last time I came across something like this it turned out the poor engine was not running on all four cylinders.

    Dormobile wiring

Yes that is Dormobile wiring. The violet wire goes to the warning lamp on mine. The switch is like a courtesy light switch and is mounted in the roof (not the pop top) close to the centre and a little ahead of the reinforcement rail round the roof opening. If your switch is missing there should...

    71 wiper motor

Unusual for these to fail. Have you tested the motor to make sure it's not a power supply or lubrication fault? Might also be dirty commutator or worn brushes.

    Brake squeal

Ah right. Sorry, your post did say linings but I guessed pads because drums rarely make noise. Glad you got it sorted now :)

Sliding door and fuel flap keep opening while driving

There's a picture of the flap with the Spring fitted here :- http://www.volkszone.co.uk/VZi/showthread.php?p=3690247" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Hope it helps.

    Brake squeal

Do you have the anti squeal plates fitted between the caliper and the pads? They also locate the piston in the correct orientation. If you already have them correctly fitted then try a smear of copperslip on the back of the pad.

    Dormobile bunk covers

Oops, mis understood. The covers were originally made of beige vinyl. They had two sets of eyes so that they could either be tight around the folded bunk or, on the outer setting, they could wrap the bunk complete with a sleeping bag still in it.

rev gauge flicking (upwards) at around 3000rpm when cruising

Check the connections are sound. Poor connection will cause over reading. If that all checks out then try replacing the condenser and points. If it still does it after that then there's probably a bad connection or dry soldered joint in the counter.

    Dormobile bunk covers

My originals on a 71 (also long gone) were made of an artificial weave, probably nylon, with a red checkered pattern. Dormobile - http://www.dormobile.co.uk/parts.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - sell new bunk cloth for £125.

Do you connect both Webber ict's to a svda dizzy or just one

Yes that might well be it.

Do you connect both Webber ict's to a svda dizzy or just one

I can't see any reason why that wouldn't work :)

Do you connect both Webber ict's to a svda dizzy or just one

Interesting you noticed a difference in driving the vehicle. I didn't. I found the length and diameter of the vac tube, plus the reservoir size of the vac canister itself, smoothed the vac signal - because this and the points base plate mechanism itself, could not react fast enough to be...

Do you connect both Webber ict's to a svda dizzy or just one

I have used both gas and air line (compressor) fittings, bought at the local hardware supermarket.

Glad to hear it's sorted with Andys help :)

One carb works just fine :)

    Hot Start Problem

Well if your engine continues to run when you have switched off the ignition it's clearly still getting power to the coil. Therefore, if your sure the ignition switch is not at fault, then it's back feeding, due to a wiring fault. Such a fault cannot be diagnosed remotely. Only hands on with a...

    Engine stutter

Also worth checking are the connections on the coil, continuity of the wires and the small earth wire on the points base plate. In addition it's possible the condenser or the coil is faulty. The only sure way to check them is to replace them - do you still have the old ones to try, assuming they...
