    Wanted - RHD steering box

Ok, here it is, I took it off my 72 bus when I restored it and replaced it with a Red9 steering rack. It does have play but I don't know how bad it is compared to others. £150 appears to be the going rate.

    Petrol leaking through heat exchanger

Hi Ean, Scary stuff and as you might know our buses have a poor reputation for going up in flames, not something anyone wants to see. There is a ton of stuff around about fuel leaking and fuel hoses etc so I'd suggest you familiarise yourself with the path it takes from the tank to the Carb to...

    Crossover parts woes

Zcat7 is spot on. First thing is to check your build date here: http://www.vw-mplate.com/mcode.php This will help a lot as in my experience the majority of crosser parts fall into the pre-72 category. There are some parts that are 71-72 only and a few (brake discs/calipers come to mind) that are...

    Carole Nash Cancellation Charge

When the next owner tries to insure it they will have a problem if it's still insured as the insurers database is shared. I had the exact same experience this week with Carol Nash, I'm changing my motorbike and they gave me a stupid quote for my new one, a breaker is taking my old one to break...

    Fixing number plates?

I was in the same boat, new front panel and bumper so I decided to mount it under the bumper and I love it. It's out of the way and doesn't interfere with the clean lines, I posted it here: http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=70246&p=568330#p568330

    Gear linkage bushes

Hi, Just interested in how good a fit the font white bush was over the pin that sticks out horizontally from the floorpan? I have bought a couple of these and they are so sloppy its ridiculous. On my list of to-do's is to measure the diameter of the pin and the inside diameter of the white bush...

I've lost the indicator relay noise!

I had to replace the OG indicator relay, the big blue one that makes the lovely click-clunk noise when the indicators are on. The modern replacement is close to silent I have accidentally left my indicators on a few times and I miss that "period" noise that only the Bus makes. Is there a...

    Progress Pics - Dormobile X-Over

Good to see you are still going, I feel for you as I started mine outside and ended up moving inside a filthy barn, but what a difference it makes! Couple of things I thought worth a mention, I believe primer is porous and its not a good idea to leave primer as the top coat for an extended...

Anyone have a list of nuts, bolts, and screws?

    Ah, In that case you might be able to identify the correct fixings via the microfiche, I manged to find out a few odd ones this way. http://www.jerseylooker.com/FicheDump/EarlyBaywindow/EarlyBay-Main.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone have a list of nuts, bolts, and screws?

When I did mine I started buying batches of bolts, washers, spring washers, nuts and nylocs. I think the bulk of fittings are M6 and M8 of various lengths. There are a number of much heavier duty fittings, Beam bolts, shock bolts etc but M6 & M8 are the most common. As you rightly say, the packs...

newly aqcuired 72 crossover with issues

Assuming you are talking about part 15 on the link I posted, this goes off to the oil bath filter on a standard carb/filter setup where the fumes are ingested into the engine. You can see it on mine:
