After loosing the love :cry: , managed to find time and re build the engine with new pistons, barrels and heads. Got it fitted and connected up and today it came to life!! :D Gotta set it all up now and check carb, timing etc to tune it up!!! Happy days are here again :mrgreen:

I had major issues with mine, passed MOT as well. On looking on here and asking questions decided to change the steering damper and what a difference it made!!! For £20 its worth a try!! mine was very loose so was passed it but they can seize aswell!

Board edge bead is the trade name for it!

A few on here have used the metal type for 9.5m plasterboard that b & q sell.

To go 1641 all you need is new barrels and pistons - I did it and happy with the outcome. Not much more top speed difference but gets their quicker! To go down the route of 1776 - Need engine strip and machine work then you can add better cam, pumps, external oil cooler and so on and so on...

Thanks guys. So the diagnostics Engine stripped and no 3 valve gave way! Damage to valve, heads, piston and cracked the barrel! **** sake :cry: Any way, pics of damage :(:(:(:(:(:(

Where to start..... oh yer, we didn't make it to Brighton Breeze as the engine seized 10 miles outside on the A23! All was going well until we heard the sound of grinding/knocking metal so dipped the clutch and engine died, free wheeled onto the very generous 2ft hard shoulder in the pitch black...

Not a happy bunny! If you pass a westy15miles away from Brighton on the A23 on the grass verge then thats me :-( Long grinding Noise and engine dead. Doesn't look good! On the upside I get to join the big yellow lorry tow van group!! Anyway, this means not able to make it so if someone can...
