    I love auto-jumbles...

Laughton Steam Fair a couple of weeks ago. It was in a mish-mash of old crap but it stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I was pulling tenners out of my wallet and had to quickly stuff them back in so I didn't look too keen!

    Sacrilege

I'm having the same dilemma; keep furniture that is knackered but original or rip 'em to bits and rebuild with nice, new ply!

    Floor advice

I'm using the original Danbury ply which was screwed to the floor so the holes are already there! I'm also keeping the slide rails which allow the two seats to be flipped to face forward or back and these were also originally screwed to the floor (through the ply) but the screws are rusty as...

    Floor advice

Morning! Why did no-one tell me that new kids and camper restorations don't mix? :| Anyway, the interior's out and the floor's been de-rusted and repainted. Before I put the interior back in I was wondering what people would suggest regarding soundproofing. I know I can put down roof-flashing...

Engine bay seals vs open baja bugs

A thought has just sprung into my head! I thought I had to make sure the seals in my bus's engine bay were tip-top as the flow of air is crucial to keeping the engine running cool yet baja bugs have their engines hanging out in the wind like a drunken rugby player's arse! Have I been fussing...

    Steel braided fuel line

With all the stories I've been reading of fuel lines splitting or becoming unattached and engines bursting into flame I am becoming paranoid every time I drive the bus. Am I right in thinking that a steel braided fuel line would fix the problem? No-one seems to have mentioned fitting one and I'm...

Starter Motor bell housing - clean or leave alone?

Yeah, I could squeeze a hoover nozzle in there and give it a suck  a bit of stealthy manoeuvring is in order I reckon :msn4:

Starter Motor bell housing - clean or leave alone?

I'm in the process of installing a new starter motor and have just removed the old one. The inside of the bell housing where the end of the new starter motor will go seems to have dirt and debris lining it. Should I have a go at cleaning this off or leave it be? I'm worried if I try to clean it...

    first time out

My trusty instruction manual says: "At temperatures above freezing point or when engine is still warm, depress accelerator pedal slowly while operating the starter. When engine is very warm, depress pedal fully but do not "pump" it"

    sun's out

Was out on the mountain bike for a four hour ride this afternoon, first time in ages wearing short sleeves and getting a sweat on! Camper's not going anywhere until the starter motor gets fixed and that's an evening job in this house!
