    Replacing fuel pump.

I'm certain I did this without removing the dizzy - using a 1/4" drive socket from memory, you can get them with a 'wobble' drive which improves dexterity a bit... Dash lights fubarred

i seem to think that the indicator telltale bulbs have to remain standard bulbs too as the resistance of the bulbs forms part of the circuit that enables the 'blinking'.

Just won't idle - losing the plot - what else can I try?!

We-ell - if the distributor gear is brass, and say it has lost a tooth r broken several teeth - there is a potential that the timing would be all over?. I might be tempted to pop the dizzy cap off and see if the rotor arm can be rotated by hand - will tell you if there is 'play' at the other...

    Dash lights fubarred

Have you blown any fuses or distirbued any earth points while you've been tinkering? (Sorry if that sounds too obvious but I've finished up rewiring tail light boards before now only to realise I had popped a fuse!))

Personally, the engineer/ traditionalist/ hate-to-throw-anything-away-ist among me would re-use absolutely everything original that he possibly could that wasn't bust, worn or shabby or a throwaway part by design. Partially in my mind it's cos the more I've looked the more original I realise my...

Does a bus with no engine need an MOT..

However, if you get your bus on a trailer, then park the trailer on the road - the trailer doesn't need an MOT, regardless of what's sitting on top of it... Just so long as the bus isn't touching the road ;)

Any VW related places in/near Dublin?

How near is near? I wouldn't know about any 'VW-related' attractions, but Wicklow is an interesting coastal town, Powerscourt house and gardens very pretty and relaxing, and a big waterfall (highest in Ireland) to look at, (near Enniskerry), and Glendalough and Wicklow Mountains are lovely for...
