UK source for stock doghouse sealing frame or 'Hoover Bit'

I've found a guy on US Ebay making doghouse sealing frames or 'Hoover Bits' (named after the late lamented vw guru Bob Hoover) mine is missing, I have a '71 twinport 1600 with doghouse cooler, but a big gap around the base where the Hoover Bit should be (why would someone decide to bin this...

    Which dizzy for Solex 34pict3

Thanks a lot I have spoken to someone called Tim recently, wonder if it was your man there. Latest plan is to get the Solex on, connect up and time the current dizzy. Meanwhile I've bought a Bosch 0231 170 034 core and sending it to H&H in Birmingham UK to be rebuilt. Now trying to work out...

    Which dizzy for Solex 34pict3

Not sure if this is the right port for the vacuum advance if it's not what might it be and why don't I have one top right like everyone else !? maybe I do, and it would explain a lot ;)

    Which dizzy for Solex 34pict3

There's a port on the side of the carb below and to the left of the idle speed adjuster, the vacuum advance is attached to that. I was surprised that the gear drive turned my dizzy round a quarter turn relative to the old 009 too. Can't see how I'd change that though ? It's got two offcentre...

    Which dizzy for Solex 34pict3

Hi folks, just splashed out on a volksbitz rebuilt german Solex 34pict3 to replace my leaky (nearly new!) Bocar 34/3. Awaiting delivery in a few days. Also I wasn't convinced by the vacuum from the bocar. I recently replaced my 009 with a cheap svda from powerspark which is much better than...

    WHAT BATTERY TO BUY

I'd be tempted for sure at those prices second the 'charge your battery properly' Use a 4-step electronic charger from the mains whenever possible and never leave your van for months without a charger conditioning the battery. Also, don't be taken in my fancy battery gimmicks, they're all...

Kemo battery guard , anyone using one ?

Got a little box of tricks from Germany in the post this morning : http://www.kemo-electronic.de/en/Car/Modules/M148A-Battery-guard-12-V-DC.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'm hoping it'll turn off my leisure battery circuit when charge drops threateningly low Only tricky...

Split charging with early dynamo and split diode

Spoke to Peter at Sterling products yesterday who advised me not to use the split diode I'd already bought with such a low powered generator, that the voltage drop across the diode would compromise headlight brightness (!), lucky I only paid a tenner for it. So hanging on for a Sterling battery...

Split charging with early dynamo and split diode

Thanks guys I have a diode from sterling products, rather than a relay but sounds like I should be ok to charge both batteries from a dynamo The diode means the two batteries are never connected so no problem drawing off from main sounds like the cheap option will be fine other option was...

Split charging with early dynamo and split diode

Hi Folks, I've been shying away so far from asking my '68 dynamo to charge a leisure battery as well as my starter battery. But it would be nice. I have a 110ah leisure that I charge from the mains before a trip and from hookup should I get it. It runs the radio, fridge ignition (not the...

    Modifying units sacrilage ?

Haveacamper, which cupboard did you plump for ? I'm thinking right-hand under the table. But I suppose could easily be where the water tank & footpump is , if I re-site the tank and footpump in the nextdoor cupboard ... I think that's the plan then, cut down to the floor and hope the cupboard...
