    Mr Chutney - RIP

Good. If you ever find it harder, you can always go down a power steering kit and a brake servo kit - making it brake and steer more like a modern car. As for maintenance, Midland Early Bay and T2D do workshop days where they teach you the basics for maintenance etc. Anything further than that...

    Mr Chutney - RIP

Sorry to hear this. Do what’s best for you - if that’s keeping your Pedro, then do so. Have you driven the van before? Best wishes. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rewire needed....

True. The mild-steel 4-1 had rotted, so went for one of the VS. Look and sound nice, but certainly lost a bit of power. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rewire needed....

Good info, thanks. I’d be buying a good quality off-the-shelf if I did it. I could do with additional cables for sensors etc, but did think it might cause issue somewhere. Like you say, conduit clipped to chassis is probably just as good if tight. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my...

So what mpg are you all getting?

Never have and never will work it out. I just know that fully laden it drinks like a V8, but without the power. [emoji23] I do understand why others do though. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rewire needed....

I have a VS exhaust on my bus - sounds deeper but I did lose a little performance from my 4-1 old system. I have GSF stainless on my single cab though - sounds great. Both very different noises for sure. Tempted to rewire the bus myself. All is ok, but it could do with tidying up. I’m good with...

Best Exhaust for 1600TP with twin carbs?

I had a Bug-pack 4-1, rusted so fitted a Vintage Speed. Looks and sounds great, but lost a little performance - which is to be expected as it ain’t a 4-1. The Vintage Speed performance one should be better, but might be overkill for some setups. A 4-1 will always give slight improvement over a...

    Engine not firing

Sorted it. The S/S braised hose must have internally snagged or kinked when pushed into the fuel outlet pipe. Removed it and it flowed straight out. Externally it looked fine - but remember it being a tight fit. Syphoned the tank out with a hand barrel pump from Machine Mart and sorted. Runs...

    Engine not firing

No it’s the white plastic type with a fine gauze over it. Empi one (all that I could get). Seemed to be ok quality. Something has happened to it - kinked or something and therefore restricting flow to a drip. [emoji849][emoji2373] '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Engine not firing

Traced it back to the tank outlet. Not letting anything but a drip through. Blown through pipe back to engine and that’s clear. Got a spark from plug 1 so that’s good enough for me. It’s a new tank with a new outlet and plastic filter on top..... any ideas? I’ve 1/2 a tank of fresh 97 Ron...

    Engine not firing

Nope, ditched it. Got an in-tank filter as part of the new setup. Might add one in future, but as it stands not needed. Getting a new garage door fitted on Thursday, so need it out of the way. Suppose at this rate, I’ll have to push it out. Other than that, not in a massive rush, but it’s...

    Engine not firing

I’ll see if I’ve time to check later tonight then. Tried the other day, and some did come through. It’s a pain. New tank and lines and can’t see why it won’t start. I know it’s not quite as gravity fed at first (it’s a single cab so tank not as high). I’ve got half a tank of fresh fuel. Just...

    Engine not firing

Similar problem here to be fair. New fuel tank and lines installed and the twat won’t start. Turns over fine. I get some petrol coming out of line to carb, but I’m wondering if the ‘squirt’ is enough. Anyone got a link to a video showing how much ‘squirt’ to expect? Is there an ignition fuse...

    Definitive Insurance Requirements List

The Fire extinguisher requirement comes under endorsements and excesses. If a camper, likely to be required - just a small standard in-cab one. It’ll be listed, but not all policies require it. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

French Slammer Products from Midland Early Bay

Hi Graham. Sorry to open an old thread. Could I ask your advice please? I’ve a 71 Bay with late callipers and narrow 5 original 14” steels on it. It was a 71 disc originally, but changed to late callipers a few years ago. I bought a set of French Slammer dropped spindles a few years ago, and...

    Well done Halfords

I got the full Halfords Professional range in 2001. Absolute quality gear and still going strong today after years of work. Personally I think they take some beating for the reasonable price they are. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Diesel heater??

Maybe it’s just me, and I know folk have been ok so far, but the thought of a cheap Chinese copy diesel heater just fills me fear. There’s certain items where a cheap copy doesn’t matter - but this ain’t one of them. Just my thoughts. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using...

    Spark plug thread woes

Mine had been done by previous owner. They’re now becoming loose, so it’s gonna be new heads soon. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    VW Restorations in Halifax

Yeah, I nearly got some work on the chassis done there years ago, but couldn’t wait. Certainly knows his stuff. '68 Single Cab '71 Danbury Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rear 3 x 3 point seat belts, what have you done about it??

VanWurks do this, but only part of a kitchen installation, not separate. I’ve seen it first hand - it’s more than adequate and probably better than the original mounts. My concern is the rear mounts are weak anyway, so a belt won’t take too much force - specially is starting to rot in that...
