EarlyBay Nut for Steering Wheel - Cannot Find Anywhere?!

Thanks for taking the time to post that, I am fairly sure that might be missing. I think I need to take it apart again and check the components off the list one by one. Good to know that it can be made to be secure. (y)

EarlyBay Nut for Steering Wheel - Cannot Find Anywhere?!

That's good thanks for confirming it's the same nut, saves me going down an unnecessary rabbit hole! The bearing is brand new, I have replaced everything on the column, but it's one of those things where I had to pause the project to do other things, then you forget where you are up to with it...

EarlyBay Nut for Steering Wheel - Cannot Find Anywhere?!

Does anyone know where I could find the top nut for a 1968 steering column or even have more information about it? I believe it is this one: https://www.bus-ok.de/Type2-bay-nut-for-steering-wheel-867-773-OEM-partnr-N-111653 I have sent them a message, however received no reply, so I am not...

    Show us your daily

I think Kia's are hugely underrated. Relatives have a Kia Soul, which one of the best all-round cars I have driven, seems to be built to a good standard and does everything well. Although Kia do not seem to like leather / faux leather seats as all of them seem have cloth as the only choice. In...

Gearbox Front Support - A Couple of Questions

Yeah I did notice that when I offered it up to test fit. I might try tweaking it out slightly in the vice and a pry-bar first though as I don't want it taking off the protective paint I have just put on. Yeah, we are spoiled with parts really for these old things, especially compared to...

Gearbox Front Support - A Couple of Questions

Thanks for confirming the bolts to the chassis. Yeah it is strange. I thought I was over looking something obvious! Perhaps it is something to do with the production process as the original also has a hole in that position, but perhaps they used to remove the stud / thread? :?: I might try...

Gearbox Front Support - A Couple of Questions

Evening Gents, I purchased a new support mount from JK and it has raised a couple of questions: The new one has a threaded bolt on the bottom which the original did not. Does anyone know what this is for? Also, when I removed the original mount, it only had one bolt holding it, however...

Engine to Bellhousing Bolts - Lock Washers Needed?

Afternoon Ladies and Gents, I'm getting parts together ready to mount the gearbox and engine in the bus for the first time in a long time and I found this useful post from Alex at VW Heritage explaining which fixings are required...

    Beetle Show and Tell

 Old and pragmatic! No Decklid is probably fine for drag-racing, but I'm not so sure about sitting in traffic with the sun blazing down on the top of the engine and the hot exhaust gasses flowing around on it. :?
