    Sunroof drain tube question (again)

I cut the hole in the A pillars up at the top just below the double dog leg mentioned by others - this allowed me to get enough leverage to pull the pipe through the original pipe that was still in place - from there on down I bypassed the original pipe as the pillar is wide enough to take two...

    Sunroof drain tube question (again)

some good tips on this thread. I tackled my drains today. Seems that the challenge falls into 3 catergories. 1. those without drain pipes i.e a westy 2. those with drains still reasonably well intact 3. those with pipes that are shot with rust like mine = a nightmare. After plenty of messing...

    Sunroof drain tube question (again)

Hi, did you decide which way to go on this. I've got the same issue and had planned to cut into the pillar but bit reluctant. Possibly the lesser of several evils as an exposed pipe would probably bug me.

Type 2 engine in a variant...

Just been looking at a early bay for sale on the net over here that claims to have a variant engine :? Perhaps they are interchangable this way with a little fettling but as Westy Rich says a pancake type engine rather than an upright 1600 lump would be necessary for the variant?

    sunroof deluxe drainage?

Mr Bightside beat me to it. Still got to do mine. Let us know how you get on chasing the new pipe down the pillars. Do you think you need all 6 drains functioning to avoid a leak - guess it depends on the amount of rain? would be nice to skip the middle ones for example by blocking them up.

Hi all, I'm facing a dilemma and thought you may be able to help. I'm currently the proud owner of a 1970 sunroof deluxe microbus (RHD 8) ) It needs a little bit of work to the floor of the rear load area and rear light cluster (has late bay lights fitted  ) but otherwise its in pretty...

What colour is the factory primer?

Sadly I know the answer to this as my bus left the factory in primer as the original owner specified a none standard paint colour. The code is 29 (in the case of my bus) or 49, a creamy grey not too disimilar to savannah beige, see the first para. on The Samba...

68 RHD Sunroof Deluxe From up North to Wales

Nice work! Can't wait to see it finished. I've got to do my sunroof drain pipes soon - tried to force new tubing up the pillars but the rusted out originals makes this impossible. Was wondering if the cuts you made in the pillar worked as hoped as I'll follow your lead. Wonder how long the...

    (((SHOW US YOUR SUNROOF DELUXES)))

Always wanted a RHD sunroof deluxe, searched for years across the UK with no luck and then when I wasn't even looking I found this bus here in Auckland. She's in the original paint, left the factory in paint code 29 - primer as the original owner requested a none standard colour. I've...

Fallen in love with this !!! Item number: 130429351690

Wondered about that as well uber. I'd want to check those sills if I was thinking of buying. The previous owner of my bus had the sills replaced but forgot to cut out the drain holes for the sunroof :( Luckly it lived in a garage so didn't have time for rust to set in, the drain pipes were...

71 Deluxe SA Import - used as it should be...

Always love looking at your bus Stu. It's almost identical to my old bus apart from the extra ventilation up top http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6927. I always believed the colour was L563 Safari Beige - I've seen a few OZ buses with the same colour.
