Early & Late Bay Passenger Foot Rests (LHD & RHD)

I was selling a front coil-over kit (EZ Rider from Red 9) for a split and agreed a sale with Reezvaan. Although he sent me all the details for shipping etc the money was never forthcoming and communication stopped fortunately without me despatching anything. With hindsight he was obviously going...

68 Balljoint Beam with Disc Brake Conversion

I've taken this off my split and need to get some money back on it. Fully refurbed with new balljoints etc. and painted. Was looking for £550 but there are now bids on it so will have to be fair and go with the auction :-...

    68 Balljoint Beam

As title says. Absolutely solid and refurbed end to end with new discs, calipers and all ball joints replaced. Not narrowed but has been cut and turned to give a subtle drop as you can see here :- Decided to go back to king and linkpins so this is surplus to requirements :- Looking for...

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

    Having to spend all my time working on the Splitty to get it ready for Vanfest so work on the Bay has been suspended. Will be back here once it has been done. Progress on the Splitty is here :- http://www.ssvc.org.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=66518" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

Spent the last few hours trying to identify the engine. I think it's a 2.2l from a 1970 911 2.2T with the later 5 speed box. If anyone has any more info, please email me!

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

Yes, well spotted - they're from a Fiat Bravo and are already in the bin! Not sure whether I'll be keeping the engine though. The amount of work fitting it properly and making sure the panels stay attached when the power comes in may be beyond my budget. May drop the 1955 motor that was...

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

23rd May 2010 Forgive me father for I have sinned. I've been tempted to the dark side and bought this :- I'm desperate to have a van on the road for the summer (and therefore still a marriage going into the winter!) and this is so much closer. Looks like all my efforts will be going into...

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

16th May No real excitement today. Spent all day mocking up the beam. Looks like I'll be taking another 47mm out. Cut and machined the bracing bars and stripped all the old paint and underseal away. Bearing inserts to be machined this week and everything should be ready to go back together next...

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

8th May Missed a couple of weekends cos of other commitments but both end plates cut and welded together. Spent 3 hours with a 9" grinder getting them both the same size and my forearms are still aching 2 days later. Cleaned up the ends of the tubes and tried them on the van. Looks like...

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

There's about 10mm to be gained normally but there's also a seam on the inside of the chassis rail that can be trimmed away and re-welded which is another 8mm or so. I'll post some more pics when we do it.

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

18th April Had a couple of weeks off because of Easter and family so got back onto it yesterday. Been let down on the end plates for the beam so decided to make some using one of the old ones as a template and a piece of 10mm steel checkerplate that was lying around. Scribed around the...

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

27th March End plates for beam haven't appeared yet so I was a bit stuck. Bob (my restorer and instructor!) gave me my first welding lesson. Why does it look so easy when a pro does it? Not bad for my first attempt so being the cocky sod I am I tried to seam weld the engine hatch in. Needless...

    Long Travel Ball Joints

It's easy to find Beetle ones but does anybody know if it's possible to get them for a 72 Bay and is, from whom?

First Ever Restoration - 72 Crossover Dormobile

Suday 21st March Beam was too good to cut up so sold it for £180 and bought this for £80 :- Stripped it to this :- Welded in a bit of a brace and removed the steering pin etc :- and started cutting and grinding :- Can't believe that took me all day. I'm using the end plate...
