Well-known member
1.7 (1679cc) type 4 engine
CA code - 72-73 ish bay
as per fitted to porsche 914`s etc....
about 66 bhp i think, but more torque...about the same as the 2 litre
muchos better with decent carb upgrade, 100 bhp, not un realistic without messing with internals
as with all type 4 , zero crank play, bottom ends are indestructable
no idea on heads? prone to throwing valves ??? so expect the worse, but could be a prefect runner, not siezed, feels like it has lots of compression when attempting to turn by hand
could be a BARGAIN...might need a the heads off and quick once over
complete head to head with oil cooler...dizzy will be removed...no flywheel
not too hard to convert to upright cooling for beetle Cool or bang it straight into your bay
1700 heads are worth the asking price alone, very sought after
£200
Collection ONLY - from wingate, north east england, county Durham
