Hi all,
As most will know I've owned this van since 2010 (took a year of searching for a 1971 US westy!). I purchased mine from Graham @ MEB (Midland Early Bay) - originally a US bus - the van was also lowered at the time on adjusters (To fit it into a standard size garage) by MEB, also fitted was a second 3 point seat belt mount on the OS rear (westy's usually have a cupboard in the way but I had a full width bed and wanted both rear passengers to have 3 point belts - it's now got fittings for 3 x 3 point belts in the rear and 2 in the front)
Completely drivable with 12 months MOT
Always garaged and comes out for summer hols in Europe or weekend trips away - believe it's original underseal & paint with some historic repairs (assuming when in the US), such as both battery trays have been replaced at some point and appears to have rear corner repaired along the way, also the pop top & bumpers were painted to match the bus
This is a solid westy with nothing lurking underneath the paint that isn't already obvious! (area's I'm aware of are rear OS arch, rear lower corner and front lower clip have filler - everywhere else including sills, arches, gutters e.t.c. are 100% solid) - believe the bus had a light restoration and blow over paint job some time ago when in the US - I've had any work that needed to be done completed (such as the windscreen surround replaced and paint matched (by T2D)) - the wheel arches & underside could do with having the remaining underseal removed and treated, not due to any issues but to prevent them, as bodywork wise, this westy is in the same condition as when imported from the states and doesn't get to see any wet, salty, UK roads!
Details of the van are:
It will be sold with the original factory rims as shown in some of the pictures with the moon hubcaps - these have nearly new commercial rated tyres and are colour matched to the bus
Note:
The bus currently doesn't have a rear interior fitted beyond side panels, floor and top locker, see video's
The plan is that she is up for sale now on here, If no interest I'll install an original westy interior over the next month and then hit the dreaded eBay/autotrader/classic sites to sell as a ready to go camper
Van can be viewed in Marlborough, Wiltshire, most evenings and weekends
Looking for offers ~ £12k
PM me for my mobile number - happy to go into more detail and recommend viewing the van's thread to show various work and stages of ownership
