Hello all,

I've had a really good quote on a respray today, the question is, is the colour divide on a 68 dormobile the type where the body is one colour and the roof is white?, or is the lower body one colour and the rest from the window line upwards in white?. I need to get this right because i only intend to to this once

check your m plate codes...they should tell you whether it was originally all one colour or split at the waistline.....

everything you need to know is here...
http://www.type2.com/m-codes/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the input guys, i'll be going for the gutter paint split then  . The original paint colour was like a dull grey/cream, so i think i'll go beige with a white roof. The van will probably be finished by the time i've made any sense out of the Id plate

The M-code will tell you what colour it left VW, Dormobile then put the upper white colour on so this won't be in your m-codes.

that makes sense as Dormobiles come from factory kombi's which were one colour.

Hiya curry,

Beige with a white roof.............................nice!

MMMM that bus is nice, if i dribble over the keyboard any more i'll electrocute myself  Great way to die though 8). If i can obtain the original paint code i wonder how easy it would be to get the paint made up

Hiya curry,

L620 Savannah Beige
L581 Cloud White

Any auto paint store should be able to mix them up. The codes above are VW/Glasurit but the colors should be available from most any manufacturer. The counterman at the paint store will "translate" the codes above to other manufacturer's paint codes.

The paint in the picture is Sikkens.

I actually like the VW Manilla yellow colour (L560) on link http://www.pre67vw.com/colours/default.aspx?p=12" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with a white roof  . Any opinions would be greatly appreciated  , i only want to do this once, cant afford to do it twice

Currry,
Where you getting the re-spray done, is it local?
How much?

Planing on doing mine myself (with the help of a mate and his garage!) but if the price is right.....

around 2K including the prep, i have another car at the paint shop at the mo and whether i go for it will depend on how good that job is!. Fingers crossed eh  . No opinions on the colour then :( . Froggy are you a member of a local club in Telford?

Hi Currylager

Can you let me know what you were quoted. I'm going to need a respray in the next couple of years.

Whats the Vbud club scene like in telford would be interested in poping over if you meet up.

Not yet, keep meaning to go along to the Fun Lovin Flat 4's (think thats what there called) but with working shifts i never seem to be on the right shift, think they meet up once a fortnight but not to sure where.
Whereabouts in Telford are you? I'm in Stirchley near the garden centre

Hi mate i'm in St Georges so not that far away  . I've dumped my van at the paint shop today, it no longer has any lights or pop top on it, ready for the prep, fingers crossed  . We are meeting up at the bucks head on long lane by Crudgington on Tuesday the 2nd of December at 8ish for our fortnightly VW meet, the peeps are good, (number around 20ish) if you want to come along let me know, you will be made very welcome 8) .

I'm still stuck for the right tone of beige, so come on, please help. i need to get this right
