69 bay, would the turret top be an original fit or retrofit.

Just bought a ratty looking 69 walk through bay (underside is really solid :). and was wondering if the small turret top roof is something that would have been fitted onto this van from the factory or would it have been an add on.
It's a uk rhd bus.

Thanks Clem, out of interest how can you tell it's not a factory roof ?

Looks very angular compared to the factory westy and Riviera turret tops

Just so happens I have a fully restored one for sale in the adverts section :D

Save yourself the resto time and get the factory look :)

Westfalia only did the two roofs, the common Westy pop top and the lesser spotted turret top.

Its a lot more contoured.

Also, if yours is a rhd UK van its unlikely to be an OG Westy conversion, pre 72 the only rhd Westys are generally South African builds.

Thanks interesting to know, I did see yours for sale webbaldo, it does look very nice although I'm miles away in Bristol.
Plus if it's not original then I might consider putting a vinyl sunroof on.
