Yesterday we drove 3 hours(150 miles) solid to view a 69 "90% original paint, 100% rust free" westy poptop(also on ebay), only to find it wasn't as described. The only original paint I found was on the cab doors, engine lid and side panel. All others had been obviously blown over(poorly). Also, there was evidence of accident repaired rear quarter(beat with hammer from inside). The engine lid was buckled where it had been prised open. The front panel also has lower section accident damage. The bottom of engine/gearbox was caked in oil. Now I know this may only be superficial and easily rectified with a respray etc. But find it hard that the dealer failed to mention this in the listing or via phone. Having said that, the interior was good with only small amount of rust on cab floor. Overall, a solid camper, but not as good as it makes out and the dealer was unwilling to shift on price due to other people waiting to view(hope they see what I did).
