Has anyone bought a kit from jk or vw heritage and fitted themselves?

Mine is hanging on one side and could do with renewal

If it's only the part fixed to the floor that's worn through there's an easy fix without spending money. You find an old door hinge with the right pin spacing and cut off a bit to fit (3" hinges are usually about right. Take the pin out of your pedal and cut off the floor part of the old hinge. Then fit your new bit and either weld it or screw it to the floor with M5 nuts and bolts or self tappers. Sometimes the hinge part of the pedal itself wears but even that can be fixed by a quick welding job. Any decent local garage should be able to do it for a fiver ;) I've fixed lots of pedals without ever having to buy these kits.
Keep the repaired pedal hinge oiled and it will be good for another 40 years.

Or megabug used to sell a much more robust hinge than the usual suspects, bought one about 4 years ago
