The weather on Sunday was awesome so I took some friends for a spin in the bus down to Richmond Park.
When we got there I wound up the drivers side window and there was a black tar like goop poking up from between the door & the glass on the outside. I left it and thought I'd sort it out when I get back. When I got back I pulled it out and the window stopped winding at all which was my aircon done for the drive home!
I'm yet to pop the door card off to check but can anyone tell me what it is so I can get some more to fix it before we go away to Suffolk in it over the long weekend?

Cheers
Will

only thing i can think of is sound dedening sheet got so hot its peeled of inside of door and stuck to glass, corse it will have set like concrete now its gone cold  must be that cos only tar like thing in door

Dude, spot on.
Took the door card off and the sound deadening has indeed warmed up enough to melt to my window!
this in turn has mean that the window has been pulled from the track.
So for about 360 days of the year this wouldn't be a problem.

Now, second question. What is the pink denture type glue called that secures the glass to the track and where do you get it from?

Not glued in ....use rubber seal.....from C & C ( other suppliers should also stock them)

cheers dude.
bought the rubber. Pulled the door card off and found that the lifter bracket was completely had it. New one to be ordered.
I think the reason the PO glued it was because the new seals are so tight that it's a real pig to wind the window up and down. Just a bit of extra grip for winding down.

On a separate note, anyone removed a fixed quarter light before? No idea how it comes out.

screw at the top under channell ,bolt at bottom holding guide ,remove guide and 1/4 light as 1 ,you my have to remove scrapers as well.

Have a look in the stickies section at the top of this section , sarahj's thread. Used this myself and it was invaluable help.
