Hi just registard to the site,i have a 1970 westy LHD and have a hammock in the elevating roof,would it be possible to take this out and put in a bed like you see in some westy,s? if so is it easy to do and where would be the best place to get one from? :?

Welcome Shoz, theres a few guys fitted the continental bed up there and they come up for sale once in a blue moon although they are on ebay now and again too....
do a search for continental bed, roof bed etc and you should see a few threads on the subject

HIYA WE HAVE JUST OR RATHER ARE JUST HAVING THIS FINISHED IN OUR 70 WESTYROOFED KOMBI FROM SOUTH AFRICA, WE SWAPPED THE FULL BUNK ...I SAY WE .... WE ASKED FOR IT TO BE DONE... FROM OUR OFF ROAD BROKEN 72 WESTY, INTO THE EARLIER 1, TO GO WITH THE FULL INTERIOR THAT WE SWAPPED OVER ASWELL.. HAVE TO SAY THE RESTO GUYS DID HAVE A BIT OF AN UP AND DOWNER BUT IT FITS ..JUST CHECK THAT THE HANDLE IN THE ROOF WILL ALLOW THE TOP TO GO DOWN AND YOU WILL SEE THAT IT DOES DENT THE FOAM COVERING ALSO THE REAR STAYS DO FOUL UP A BIT MORE ON THE SIDE SUPPORTS OF THE BED WHEN ITS DOWN.(THE ONES THAT LAND ON THE EDGES OF THE HOLE) SO WATCH THE POSITIONING .
I WOULD SAY WORTH DOING BUT NOT WITHOUT ITS THOUGHT PROVOKING MOMENTS.
