Beetle steels on bus ?

It seems the 15inch split wheels I wanted are like very expensive rocking horse shit! So it might be back to the original idea, smooth beetle wheels, I know there only 4 inch wide, anyone run them or any pics of them on a bus ?

I did read somewhere that they weren't made to take the weight of a bus :/ could be a complete load of tosh tho

Andy I'm suffering the same issues,decent rims for sale are thin on the ground or realistically too expensive or at worst sold within five mins!

I've compared the steel thickness on beetle wheels and it does look like slightly thinner metal is used on them, can't really say if they are any weaker though but i would suspect they are, plenty of people seem to get away with them on busses though

I rolled a tyre off a 4" Beetle rim on the front during "spirited" driving.
I'm currently running '66/'67 Beetle rims that have been banded to 5.5". Much better feeling through the steering.

Are Split screen wheels 4" width and the crows feet 4" 1/8th.

Split wheels are 4.5 including crows foot ones, but I think crows foot have a slightly different offset.

Cheers chaps. I'm not concerned about the strength of the wheel at all, just the width and look of if, didn't want them to look like pizza cutters. What 15" smooth looking steels are there other than beetle ?

The red wheels I ran for a while are Type 3 15" steels, better offset than stock. Can't remember the width though, I'll be home at the weekend so can check then.
