I know roof racks arent the best way to get good fuel consumption after a 200 mile round trip this weekend that cost me about £70

I am just about to do a gearbox swap, that should help. I am also looking at a cheap EFI setup, that will help too.

Buy a T25 Turbo diesel is the only real way to get good economy!

Hi!

Go a bit slower? Mines better at 50 than 60. And i can hear the radio better too. (Note to self - must fir the 6x9's and amp...)

Anyway, how much are you getting is more to the point? ;)

Make sure everythings spot on ,timing ,valves and carb setup.Replace your points with Petronixs or similar, have a light right foot, 55-60 top speed and get there gently, definitely no roof racks.
Then the best thing I ever did was having an LPG conversion,Im paying 53p a ltr at the moment and I think its cheaper still in other parts of the country, but then you pay through the nose for everything in Cornwall.

As chris says keep on top of your maintenance, also make sure brake are correctly adjusted (dragging pads will add to fuel use), tire pressures, and a big one that caught me out, if your running a stock carb with the electric choke make sure the choke is set correctly. Reset mine for cold weather and the van used fuel at about twice the rate so when back to previous setting.

just seems to use moor a lot moor after having the engine out
there isn't a roof rack yet.
wouldn't no what millage iam getting, ill try the carb

If your looking to upgrade 34icts and 2.0L 6 rib box (with your original early nosecone bolted on) is the way I'd like to go. Is fairly expensive but I'm sure it'll pay off.
