I have found my new '72 crossover has a strange but probably simple to fix problem. When I have my headlights on normaly the dash blue full beam light is on, when I put full beam on it goes off, I haven't looked into it yet but any ideas before I go and try and fix it.

Mine has that blue light on with headlights, green dipped with side lights, I'd just leave it myself

Blue light should be on with full beam only, with normal headlamps neither green or blue should be illuminated.

It will fail the MOT if the blue telltale does not work correctly.

See the blue/white wire going to the 6th fuse from the left? That is the wire for the telltale. It's possible that this has been connected to the yellow (main beam) fuses (3 & 4 from left), or that the wires aren't going to the correct fuses. :)

Do your headlights work correctly as they should?

Sounds like it's simply being fed from the wrong fuse, if you look at the fusebox fuses 3&4 (from left) feed the headlights all big yellow wires and fuses 5&6 feed the high beam which are big white wires.

There should be a small blue wire feeding the highbeam light from either fuse 5 or 6 I'm betting yours is on fuse 3 or 4

Basically there should be one yellow going into the fuses 3&4 and just one yellow (one is actually yellow/blue) coming off each fuse. Nothing else.

Fuse 5 & 6 should have a large white going in and a white and white/black wires coming off each fuse but there should also be a small blue one to feed the dash light.

Simple fix, pull it off and move it over. It's probably come off in the past and someone's just shoved it back in there.

Cheers for the info, luckily i'm now in Perth, Australia so no more MOT for me ;)

When I put the lights on, full beam is already on (but the blue light off) I then need to put 'full beam on' which actually switches full beam off and the blue light comes on.

The only issue I have with it is it gets a little annoying driving along a dark road with a dim dash but a bright blue light shineing away at me.
