Hi

I have just got me van back from the garage. It was in for a shed loads of TLC.

One of the jobs was to sort out the sticking on brake lights. Which i thought was done but I drove him today and they are still get stuck on??? It had to have a new master cylinder???

what happens is that i can drive my van and when i brake the lights stay on, but if i use indicators they get 'unstuck' ??. My chap will be happy to sort it out(i'm sure) but i'm driving to Action on friday and i cant get it back to him due to work etc.

Is it an easy job to fix?? i will be happy to do it, but only have evening to fix them.

I have an 1970 US cali import westy.

Please help me

Give the wires a waggle at the lights as may be a faulty connection or the earthing wire may have come loose.

Often happens to mine.

the most likely cause is the switch itself, chances are its og and either needs a bloody good clean or replacement....

Does this still have it's original US spec indicators and brake lights? If so there was a rather complicated arrangement with a US spec relay that sorted it all out. It sounds as though you may have problems with that relay. Alternatively it could just be a faulty brake switch or switches if you have dual circuit.

Ok thanks chaps. I wll check and clean the switch, i take it you mean the one on the master cylinder??? and check the wires at the rear lights.
will let you know what i found.
thanks

Right chaps, i have been under my van today. I have cleaned both the switches and checked the connection at the rear lights and i they are still sticking on.

I got my 8 year old son to step on the pedal and......... they go on and stright out if he tapped the pedal and if he stood hard/long on it they would stay/stick on?????? then a quick tap and they would go off again?????? :(

anymore ideas??????
