Anyone know a camping site within cycling distance of Central London. ??

Me and the Mrs are taking part in the Prudential London Free Ride in August and with so many
participants I can't see taking the bikes on the train as an option.

Thought I could take my bus an pitch up somewhere within cycling distance of Central London and sleep the
night then cycle in in the morning.

Any ideas ? ( other than Hyde Park etc  )

Let me know how you get on, I've not stayed there myself its literally 5mins down the road to me, the ukcampsite reviews didn't seem too bad.

Abbey Wood is very nice as a site and entirely isolated from the horrors of the surrounding Mockney filth... ;)

I stay there quite a bit in my EB as I work down there, you can't beat it TBH as it's quiet and tranquil and an excellent antidote to London.

There is a really nice little site in Dulwich at the Scouts place, which is officially the closest campsite to central london. We only live a mile away but camped there last summer with a load of friends when we put on a festival for our daughter and 2 friends kids joint first birthdays. Its really quiet, green, surrounded by a forest on one side and a golf course on the other, and 6miles from the river Thames, i know because i cycle past everyday on my way in to town.
