Casino theme???

Hi all - I am interested in opinions on the casino theme I have started on my bus (positive & negative are welcome).
Still a very early work in progress at the moment - I have a few more ideas & bits already collected to fit yet (possibly).
The idea all came about as I wasnt happy with the cheapo vw sticker in the middle of the horn push when I fitted the woodrim wheel - so I made the hole bigger & stuck a casino chip that I have been carrying around in my wallet as a lucky charm since 1996 when I won a couple of dollars while on holiday in Surfers Paradise, Oz. Then thought I might accessorise it a bit more.


So opinions please
Also any good ideas welcome.

Cant decide whether I like the indicator stalk or not.....

I like the steering wheel chip, not too sure about the indicator stalk,

but then again I didint think oh god no :shock: I first thought :? then thought it is different, and in a sea of campers at a show or event I think sometimes that's what we want, something to make ours slightly different. So stick with it for a bit :mrgreen:

I think my main concern is that its sort of ok now - but if I keep going will it start to look really cheesy? - I guess its all removable so doesnt hurt to try it?

No problem on the cooker pics Taken mine out at the moment due to fitting Boxster seats up front - looking forward to getting a warm arse from heated seats rather than a hot cooker :lol:

Very personal thing, that said it could work depends on how far you want to take it I suppose its one of those....slight detail or full on with no real in between.....

Personally I think casinos are tacky trash and wouldn't do it to my bus. But then again I am not the sort who likes Las Vegas. And yes I have been there, twice. Wait hold on in there, this goes some where.......

But then again, its not my bus, its yours! And who you doing it for anyway? YOU of course! its your bus to do with as you please. They are all different, that's whats so cool about them, its the personal touch you see here and there.

If it makes you happy go for it! For the record I do like the poker chip, what about doing somthing similar for the centre caps on your wheels. Damn, now I am getting in to it :lol:

Chip looks good. I like the thinking on the casino theme - you could carry it off elsewhere on the van. Maybe loose some of the dice on the stalk, it's a bit chunky? One on the end would be my preference, maybe fit the others onto the valve stem caps, and numberplate fixings?, and one of top of the aerial would look cool too.

How about a table that flips over to be a casino table? Complete with chips fitted into a wooden box underneath?

And how about modding some switches, the illumination would look cool through the dice? may use small leds fitted inside?

And a one armed bandit behind the seat..........

Now this one i am liking a lot....... Looks quite compact - would look good in a bus - you could re-veneer it with westy wood too. Very nearly tempted myself! But I'll leave you to carry on the look!

My bus has some old Hotel Eldorado in Reno keyrings i found under the seat, they have a big casino there too!
As a theme, i like the casino, and it's all about making your bus a little different to the rest of the line up!
I'm looking forward to see what you decide - ebay is great for all the little nice things.....

And how about some old skool casino logo's on the doors etc too? So much you can do as a theme...

Oh, and ubercool - tell me more about the dormobile cooker mod - i wanted to do this to my westy too!

Not sure I can fit a fruit machine in tho!

Also making a gear knob out of a pile of chips. And the table idea is similar to what I was thinking. 8)

No worries! If it wasn't for the fact i already have a "look" i would be doing exactly this - especially as i have some old casino stuff left in the van from reno - namely the keyrings and my "lucky" dimes that sits on the dashboard speedo clusters

Don't think i have seen a van with this theme - so really looking forward to the outcome!

Does you van have the swing out cooker, i forget is that's Devon or Dormobile.... How about a swing out one armed bandit?

can't remember who's van it was (sorry!) but they had laminated pictures/posters onto their door cards and headlining.....perhaps do it with dollar bills 8)

I have a surfing type theme on mine, but there is someone else who has Beano and Dandy laminated on the door cards etc, i think it may be this one you are on about?

I think its nice to have a theme as long as you keep it subtle.

A few choice pieces here and there do the trick imo.
