Now that I've decided on having a camping interior in the bus I've been doing all my research on all the fun bits like trim and trinkets and accessories which has led me to curtains.
I read myvanway's curtain project but I was wondering if and how you've put them in a non-westy bus? Do you have to drill into the body to fit the curtain rail and if so how does this affect things if you put in a fabric headliner that goes down to the windows?

Also pictures of your curtains and set up please!!!

*Sorry if this should be in technical  *

If you don't mind me jumping on yer bandwagon,,,,,,

I have a set of westy curtain tracks ready to fit, but, what sort of curtain hooks do I need???
The runner are very different to the silent gliss ones I've had in the past :?

That's Myvanway's thread which is excellent but I'm not sure if it's the same for us non-westy people.

Supertramp, I'm doing the same as you & converting a microbus to a westy (ish) , so I need to know stuff like.

Where on the roof the curtain rails fit, like just above the windows or what???
How long the curtains need to be??
Stuff like that :?

Boring, I know

Gliss curtain track is what most trimmers use for 'proper curtains', aluminium track that you rivet to the side of the bus, in a similar way to the way the westy roof panels are help in place, picture here of JK product

hiya used silent gliss aluminium track on mine, when i refited head liner i screwed it as close to the window rubber as possible

this is the first time fitting they were a bit higher and did put more tention on the headliner

very much a pain to bend at front of bus used some metal inside so it kept the shape of the track or it will crack it

this was how i fitted mine but im sure there are other ways,

recently bought new blackout curtains have fitted but not tried them yet

hope this helps

Cheers, we used silent gliss ones in the splitty, but I've got westy ones this time round.
I've just put them in just now!!
Got none for the front tho :?
Might get an exterior cab blind wrap around thing??
Think silent gliss may have been a better option??.

I've used poppers on the cab windows, really simple to put curtain up at night. Bit of elastic inside the curtain header keeps it all nice and tight. The interior of my westy was a bit wrecked when I bought it but this seemed to have been how it worked at some point in time. I did try to bend curtain rail round, but it just wasn't going to be easy to get the curtain to go round it smoothly. Hope this helps, bit of experimentation is always a good thing

I really don't like the look of those "Runners" :?
It just doesn't look "Right" it looks to much like an "After-thought" :?

Plus there is WAAAAAAAAAY to many holes drilled

Each to their own.....

There's no need to put a screw in every hole, it will fix securely enough just using every other hole. They changed the silent Gliss rails and it now has twice as many holes as before

Someone put the measurements for the size of Westfalia curtains on here before, but I can't remember who
