Thumbing my way back
Anyone use there van as there daily drive?

I also have a mk2 polo s!

Sometimes slammed vans ain't so practical for driving everywhere when your out in the sticks.

:D

Generally i do - but its not long distance really - 3 miles to the station and back generally !

Whilst the bus is off the road, I've got a MK2 Polo and a Seat Ibiza. But when the bus is back on the road I have every intention of using it as my daily hack.

I work away for two weeks every month but when im home i use mine as my daily. I keep it in a storage facillity as ive got a beetle in the garage so if its raining non stop and generally crap i wont use it just for the sake of it.

I love daily drivin my bus...although when it gets cold and salty out there best to keep em inside kids!!!

I have a battered T4 to deal with the winter months

i try my hardest to not drive my bus in the winter but i just can't help my self. wot would u rather be in a bay or a vauxhall chaviler

Before i took my off the road for resto i used to use mine two days a week for work and my car the other three. Weekend was bus only!

Didn't want the van to be sitting around during the week.

When it's ready i will use it more (just not during winter).

This is similar to me. I work in a town and don't always like leaving my van there.

I'm a chef and work opposite a night club unfortunately. So always drunken idiots about!

I take a train to work, so the van is in the garage most of the week. It only costs £5 for 7 days travel, so cant afford not to. 8)

and the van stays dry during the week! saves my new paint for another couple of years! 8)

Yes. Mines being touched up over winter.

Don't have a garage, just a cover. But luckily my brother and best mate are both a sprayer and panel beater/body worker.

My daily driver is the '84 hitop...cheap tax [€78], fuel efficient (1.6D, 37+mpg), good heater, loads of space...and campers are the absolute best vehicles to break down in....cup of tea while you wait for rescue :lol: {only broke down once...but kettle was on as soon as the phonecall was made :wink: }

As soon as the '71 is road legal I dare say it'll venture out fairly regularly too....just too much fun to drive for it to be left parked up :D

I was using mine as a daily driver a 50 mile commute a day for a year and 1/2 before I took it of the road for a final push to finish restore and upgrade brakes and a TD engine :D

Have to say I really enjoyed it.. would never have done it with the aircooled lump in it though with the cost of fuel and lack of heater.

Cool forum BTW.

yep mines a daily drive :D not worried about the cold as fitted a propex in last year so just switch that on 5 mins before i need to leave :D :D

have driven mine to work every day since i bought it. heaters dont work but with enough layers on you dont notice ! worst is when the windscreen keeps freezin up or when the wiper blades keep fallin off in rain. just makes you appreciate the summer more though. if youve got it, use it.
