Caught the ferry (Spirit of Tasmania) across Bass Straight to Tasmania for the Australian version of the Bug In. It is up against some stiff opposition over Easter with shows in Sydney and a new thing in Canberra. The crowd that follow it around are a staunch bunch and it is mostly focused on beetles. Maybe that is where it gets it's name from eh?
There was a reasonable turnout of buses, so over to the pics.

If you want some more pics there are a few here.

I thought we were welding OK, but had second thoughts next morning.
Moral of the story "NEVER drink and weld!"

We even suggested some mods for their luggage transport.
They are going to get back to us!

welcome back, i wondered where you had been :D

looks like another busy roadtrip for you! hows that new engine working out?

I have been a bit distracted of late. The engine is superb, Tasmania has a lot of hills and I was cruising up them as well as down. It is a bit sensitive on the throttle with the big carbies but I am getting used to that. Overall I am very happy with the whole thing now.

you must have a massive collection of "scenic" bus pics now!

glad that new engines working out for ya

Welcome back yo flamin gala! 8) :D

Great pics and looks like a cool trip! 8)

Thanks for the warm thoughts dudes. it was indeed a cool trip. I do like a road trip but when half the distance is on a nice big smooth sailing ferry it is even better.

You boyoes might like this yellow puppy. It has a 3.5ltr Rover hanging out the back. He has spent big bucks on gearboxes but thinks he has it sorted now.
He is aware that the radiator on the front is uglier than sin, but he usues the bus to go surfing and has to do the dirt road thing often. So underneath cooling would be very short lived.
And yes I know it is not an early but it is interesting isn't it?

Great engine! could not live with the radiator though  Even worse is that bumper! but I bet it is quality for what the dude uses it for 8)

I am the number one enemy of the hanging radiator, but he uses the bus to surf so I made an exception.
He got the whole thing as a half completed basket case so he deserves a bit of credit. As well as all that his name is David so he must be a nice character.
When you look at the late and early paked beside each other there is no big decision which is prettier I think.
