Hi can any one tell me if they have tryed to fit a beatle 0231170034 distributor to a 71 bay I've got a 009 in there at the moment which I have fallen out of love with any advice would be greatly appreciated cheers john :shock:

Thats a bosch numberr which I am not to familiar with.

Hi the dist is off a 74 beatle with 25deg advance curv other than that I'm going to fit an after market vacume type it's just ive read loads of horror story's about the 009 just anouther quickie I've read to time the 71 on bay at 5 deg atdc and the year before it at tdc and the year before that at 7.5 btdc at 900 rpm do you know if this is based on the type of engine or distributer type as I have a 71 bus with a70 engine man I'm confused

The Bosch dizzy number 0231 170 034 = VW 043 905 205 and was fitted to a range of air-cooled engines 1300 - 1600cc
Made in both Germany and Mexico.

Nice one I'm convinced I'm going to buy a decent electronic ignition kit and fit this one
