if i had a 1972 van with all handles/locks working and 2 keys for all (incl ignition) and i wanted to donate them to a 1970 van ...would i be able to do it ?
could i do it just by transferring the whole thing? or would it mean barrels changed over etc?
couild i get keys for the locks on the 1970 van cab doors if they worked okay?

i have now got 4 keys for 5 locks/ignition?

any info on this sort of stuff?
cheers
steve

they'll fit but why not re jig the barrels to work off 1 key and repair them replacing the worn wafers and springs, add a touch of grahite powder and your laughing....locks like new :D

thx
not sure why the resto man did not use my originals then ... 72 van ... all were okay and 1 key . now he has put new locks on and 4 keys??

but i can get these new ones to 1 key if i cant get my og back from him then? thats if i can get them to work!! 2 dont work properly and 3rd is hit and miss
with a bit of help it may be possible then
? cheers

wouldnt be the same restorer that banged your engine in without all the tinware would it? if so there lies your answer, feck all work to the pound, its people like this that really piss me off about "the scene", that said its people like this that got slammed Kustom to start his own business...

it takes a bit of time and is fiddly to do hence the money C&C charge, that said there price is bloody extortionate....your mechanic has charged you for the easiest solution for him....

I'm a little confused (easily done)

what is your current bus... 70?

what locks were changed?

are they new repro (*****) or used OG units?

old locks would have been L series what were the problems with them?

New locks whats the problem with these apart from carrying a jailers ring just to drive your bus?

yes it would be....sorry to say.

i had a 72 van never a problem and had it 10 years.all locks were good and worked.
i got an imported 1970 rhd van and all was going to be swapped over that could be .... it seems it has proved more of a nightmare than the man thought about in the first place.

new locks have been put on the 1970 van...i think the slider and possibly rear hatch are the same locks from 72 van but not sure about that. either way rear hatch does not work now, barrel goes round and round and round ....and round! and slider is not operating as it should
cab doors have new locks i gather and n/s/ dont work neither.
have an og key for 2 locks...rear and slaider,, 1 new key for n/s cab, 1 for o/f cab and 1 for ignition
as you say bit of a pocket full to go out for a day and it makes my shorts bulge in the wrong places!!!

all a bit of a trial...which it will end up being !!!!

but looking for the easiest route to a van back on the road.

hope for result soon
keep watching
cheers

If you can lay your hands on the OG 70 locks bang em in an envelope and I'll ultrasound them and see if theres anything salvageable / rebuildable, shouldnt really be an issue....other than a little wear and 40 years of crud....

is the ignition the original key and lock? i.e an L series?

you say new cab keys why didnt you/he get two locks on the same keys?

thx for that , i will see if he still has them .... as for other comment...your guess is as good as mine .
cheers
