As some of you may have seen I am looking to possibly swap my westy for a doublecab.
The more I look they seem to be few and far between, so how many are here on the forum? If any?

I guess there aren't many around... There are a few ongoing projects in the Gallery section. Here is mine (my fathers panel van in the background), I hope to start working on it next winter :)

The commercials are around Ash. They do take a little longer to find. Especially a solid one. Remember these were work horses back in the day and white westys were treasured weekend getaways. I took over 2 years to find my single cab. Travelled all over Europe to find the right one. Ended up finding it 10 miles from my home.

Happy hunting :D

Agreed. They were work horses and hence got sort of used up and neglected. The tin worm has eaten most of them so they are even more rare now.

Agreed , it took 2 years before I got mine, I was looking at some for sale at the volksworld show yesterday and I wouldn't have bought them if you took a zero off the asking price to be honest, it's very hard to find a good one that's for sale , there were some awesome pick ups in the show though, good luck :)

Hi, I am lucky enough to own a '68 crew cab which I imported from Tenerife 2 years ago. It is in great condition (even if I say so myself), but I can't take credit for it as it was all done by the chap I bought it from. (There was an article on the van in issue 62 of VW Camper & Commercial if you have one kicking around.) Here's a pic of van.

This is also a link to the facebook page of the chap I bought it from, he owns a VW garage on Tenerife and was extremely helpful with everything in regard to importing it etc. (Scroll down to see a few Doka's and testimonials.) I would def recommend him, and I'd say worthwhile contacting him to see when he may next have a Doka available.

Good luck.

I've seen this, no idea if he's still got it or price

karlehsp on here probably has the most well known on the forum, it is pretty cool 8)

Long timers on here will also remember carole's double which was quite a minter.
