Here we have for sale my original UK RHD 1971 VW Devon Camper van. This is an original UK VW Camper and its RHD which is nice... driving in the right seat for the UK makes a difference. Also its got the later disc brakes coupled with the classic lowlight early shape.
Body
This old camper is totally stock and its pretty solid. Its got a new Australian replacement rust free sliding door which glides beautifully. The front steps have been repaired and as you can see from the pics the work isn't show quality but solid. Both front doors have rusty bottoms, you could repair them or just go for some used rust free American doors.
The paint is worn and tired but that what I like about it.
The Bus comes with all new window rubbers supplied. Also I have the sliding door spare glass with open quarter light. I also have a spare piece of offside glass.
Chassis:
Totally stock and nicely worn in and very comfortable.
Wheels and Tyres
Stock as rock with commercial tyres. They do the job.
Engine:
Rebuilt 1600, with full flow filtration and vw Mk2 Golf oil filter and external oil cooler and thermostat. The bus runs a Oil temp gauge and Oil pressure gauge, which are very handy. The engine runs like a dream . The bus is equipped the facility for dual batteries but at the moment its running just the one. The Bus is also running original German heat exchangers, so it never gets to chilly.
Interior:
The Camper is running the original Devon interior, which could do with a strip, clean and re-varnish. The Camper runs a oil pressure and oil temperature gauges set into and under the dash as in the pictures.
The camper sleeps 4 two adults in the rear with two children in the roof bunks. It also features and cooker, with gas bottle, sink with water reservoir. I also have a new HURST alike shifter with all new bushings to fit to the Camper to improve the shifting prowess.
This is a really good old bus ready to drive as is or become a rolling project. Its shame it has to go but the house renovation means this is the case.
