My fuel gauge doesn't work. I've taken the dash apart and I have voltage there and when I turn off the ignition the gauge needle flickers.

My question is, do I have take out my engine to get to the fuel sender to see if it's seized or am I completely missing something?

If you short the sender wire (IIRC) does the gauge go to 'full'?

If you want to check the sender wire at the sender end you might be able to get to it.

Was that a diy job or factory?
Seem to recall factory installs having a slightly different left edge on the firewall?

Factory I think, I'm sure the heater was listed on the M-plate.

Got the same trouble on mine. I remember my father in law who has a 73 cut a hole in the bulkhead panel behind the seats? I think, to get access to the sender. He cahanged the sender unit and replaced a neat screw down plate over the hole.
Question is, what end, and roughly where is the sender on a 69?

Got to be easier than engine or fan housing out.

 discussed this with the father in law yesterday on the way to Sandown, he said he had the measurements written down.

Top stuff Joval!! can you get the plate still?

Bigger hole would better I reckon ;)

I have seen pictures of a larger, rectangular access panel cut in, may have been on here - can't find them now.

Yeah there is a thread somewhere, they used a piece of an old panel so that the undulations marry up and make a good seal.....
