Funny weld in roof.

Looked at a camper at the weekend. There is a weld run right across the roof inside from side to side about 6 inches back from where roof hole is. Van is solid apart from this. Is it a repair or something else? Help please.

Is it at the front or back

Back. About middle of roof.

If it's the can end somebody may have converted it to a poptop or it could have just rotted out

Mmm. Van is a westy so not been converted. Just seems a funny place for a weld just before brace in middle of roof.

Wonder if it was a repair for the rear hatch springs or possibly someone being an elephant on the roof rack or something like that
