Can anyone tell me the length of a early bay gearbox, the measurement I'm looking for is from face of the nose cone where the gearbox mount is mounted to it and the face that mates with the engine.

Cheers
Sam

Anyone got a box kicking around and can drop a tape across the length please

Will this be the same as was fitted in an early bay ?

Just measured my spare: it's 690mm bell housing to the end of the selector shaft (extreme ends) and 565mm if you delete the selector and it's housing (ie to the square edge).

It's a 3 rib early bay box pre gearbox hanger.

Ha! I was on a train from London when I wrote that John.
I did measures it three times tho so it took me a good 3 minutes.! :D
1st measurement was 565mm, but that was on the piss so I got a sraight edge and did it properly the next two times.
553mm if I remember right.
That was from the flat surface the bracket bolts to to the bell housing where it meets the motor.
