While a cut off valve is a good idea you still need to find and sort the actual cause of the issue rather than just putting a bandage on...

A mild 1776 should be 90-100 horsepower. I personally prefer a full weight flywheel on a bus motor, have 1 on my 2276.

Stock vw rods are 5.4” which will be fine for a 2007 as long as you’re not looking to turn lots of rpm.

I agree, 95c isn’t anything to worry about I agree, 95c is fine. Oil needs to reach that kind of temp in order to get rid of moisture...

Fair enough that oil has changed and a multi grade now >mono grade but, thats not what is causing/caused this.
