Hi guys,
anyone any ideas on this....Geny been lit on for a few weeks now, seems to be the same brightnes regardless of engine revs. on one occasion last week I was out at night & it went off and my headlamps became bright as if someone had flicked a switch, but when I started it up later - Geny light lit & back on battery power !!
So,I've done the tests from Haynes manual & speedy Jims pages (http://www.nls.net/mp/volks/htm/gen.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false and the Geny only seems to be giving out 4ish Volts. Brushes OK, Commutator cleaned,re polorized (as per speedy Jim pages) and still not charging battery/Gen light on.
Is there anything else to check before I put a ' Generator wanted ' post up? Thanks in advance
p.s.The Haynes manual shows the connections on the top the Generator the opposite way round from what they actually are.... what type/amps Geny will mine be or be should I be looking for? its a 69 SP 1600 ?
