ALL YOU SKINHEADS, RUDE BOYS, RUDE GIRLS GET YOUR BRACES TOGETHER AND YOUR BOOTS UPON YOUR FEET WERE GOING TO DO SOME OF THAT OLD MOON STOMPING

Just booked my tickets for November and i am already so excited. Was well pissed when i missed the first dates but theyve now released some new dates and they are just down the road in Plymouth.
Its quite a good venue (saw Madness and the Fun Lovin Criminals there before)

Just out of interest for anyone in the Midlands, Madness, FLC and the Pogues are playing a gig at Wollaton Park Nottingham sometime in July and i think its only £10..............

Ive got tickets to see them in Cardiff 8)

Just watched then on Glasto .... excellent.

I saw the glasto show on the bbc and it was really good, but im glad im going to be seeing them with a few thousand other real fans, skanking along while singing all the words. No one at glasto looked bothered to be honest and day time out door gigs can lose it abit.

just watched as well, had to explain to the daughter (9 years old)there were around 30 years ago  , when in cardiff :?:

Hup for an old thread ...

Went last night .... amazing. They were as sharp as a tack and full of energy. I was always a bit sceptical given my distrust of 'reunion' gigs, but I had to give it a go and wasnt disappointed. It was rammed and was the sweatiest, danciest gig Ive been to in years ... the years just rolled away!

clyde ... youre gonna love it 8) from 'Dawning of a New era' to 'Youre wondering now' 8)

Mind you, 30 years! :(

caught them on their earlier tour, they was cracking

Oh yes roll on Thursday afternoon. Leaving Exeter for Plymouth around 2pm for a bit of an afternood session before the gig.............cant wait.
The Mount Pleasant pub across the road from the venue was rammed when i went down for the madness gig, full of skins and ska boys and non stop ska on the sound system.

I used to live in Coventry and my band, Team 23, supported the Specials on their second album tour in 1982. They were, and are, the best band I've EVER seen. That tour will live in my memory forever. They may be older, but they'll always be ace.

That's cool too "easy". The Two-Tone days in Coventry were brilliant. We got gigs too with Madness, Dexy's, Selecter because we lived in the area and ligged with the bands. We all used to watch each others' local pub gigs. I remember seeing the Specials in the local pubs before they went "Bam-Big-Time" and just knew it was going to happen for them. Brad, the Special's drummer, signed us on his Race Records label. Lovely bloke. Got any web-links to your band days ?

Here you go dood http://www.myspace.com/mothersamosa" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; its only a myspace as the big site is being worked on. Great days to be honest and miss em loads. Had quite a load of recent interest aswell due to our album art ;)

i was into the whole two-tone thing in the late seventies. probably 79/80 i went to trentham gardens in s.o.t to see the specials with the selecter and the body snatchers i think and maybe even madness? it was like a two-tone extravaganza. i was about 13/14 years old. at the end of the gig we all got up on stage and danced with all the guys from the specials, good memories. those early two-tone days got me into traditional jamaican ska, which i very much still enjoy. wouldn't bother going to see them now though. out of interest of the original line up, whose still there? does terry hall lead? or is it like a 'drifters' thing where there about as original as old suitcase on vw?

Took a dip into your myspace site and loved your music and it's quirkiness. Great stuff. Probably add you as "a friend" to my old band (The XCerts) if you'll have us. :D

Wow. I guess that was the Dance Craze tour - they made an album and film of it at the time. I think even Bad Manners were on that ... that was proper early days.

The current line up is complete bar Jerry Dammers. I wouldnt have gone if it had been any sort of mish mash, but it really was good.

I saw The Who a year or so before John Entwhistle died and vowed never to go and see an 'old' band again as I was so disappointed .... but The Specials were a different league. 8)
