Hope the above image has displayed.

Looking for people's opinion's / advice on the above headlining. Our bus had clearly been used by a few surfer dudes at some point during its life judging by some of the stickers on the rear window and the fin tears in the roof! It's not a pretty sight and at some point its going to have to be replaced. I've made some initial inquiries and looking at a good £750 to replace a deluxe bus headlining.

I'm in 2 minds as to taking the lot down now and maybe just getting some sound deadening / insulation stuck up there until we have the funds spare for a new one. Or putting up with it as is .... a shame as it's always the first thing your eyes pick up on!

I did try putting some white gaffer tape over the tears with a view to some strategically place vw scene stickers over the top. But the tape wouldn't even hold to the old flexing headliner.

What would you guys choose to do?
cheers
Craig

Buy better tape ;)

Make sure the surfaces are good and clean before applying the stuff and don't stretch the tape too much.

Heck, if that doesn't work you could get away with gluing something up instead (like stickers, etc). If you're planning to eventually replace the thing, it doesn't matter if the fix you apply is semi-permanent :msn4:

Hi Craig,
I have also been trying to get a cheap simple fix for a similar looking headlining. From experience may I suggest that if you use a glue, just do one area and see if it stays put for a couple of hot days. I didn't, I set about sticking patches up and it looked proper good. Anyway, after a few days with the bus parked on the drive, I got in to drive somewhere and noticed most of the patches had curled back - Doh!
So I am also keen to know if you have any success with your repair job. Good luck, meanwhile if I find some better way I'll share it with you.
