Been trying to find out over on VZi -

I think it's around two 'narf inches per outer spline.

i remember asking this question. if your good with maths have a look here. i am not so still dont have the answer!!

Don't think that's for a bay, according to Bently -

Inner - 44 splines 8° 10'
Outer - 48 splines 7° 30'

Which doesn't look right either, aren't outers for coarse adjustment?

any mathmatical proteges work it out? or can we find a chart for bays?

if outers have more splines wouldn't it be fine tuning?

Get me the length of
1. the torsion bar to centre of hub
2. stock angle of spring plate from horizontal
3. stock perpendicular height from centre of hub to the horizontal used in 2

and i'll get a chart up for a sticky to you johnny

Yep, I just thought outers were meant to be coarse - could be wrong, have been many times before....

when i lowered my van i wrote a document explaining all this etc. i can pass it to you if you want? the values are measured as very very close approximations, measured as best as i could. but...

early van; 44 inner plines, 48 outer splines.
therefore; 8.18 degrees rotation per inner spline and 7.5 degrees rotation per outer spline.
torsion bar to hub centre-to-centre i measured at 445mm (spring plate distance).
therefore; 63.3mm drop per inner spline and 58.1mm drop per outer spline.
fine adjustment, counter drop, i.e. 1 inner spline counter acted by 1 outer spline gives 5.2mm drop.

hope this helps some?
