I've sourced a garage for winter but my stock height bus is an inch too high at the back and two at the front. Thought about taking the air out of the tyres and putting some weight on the front seat but would like to move the van to work on it over the winter.
Is there a quick and easy way to find that couple of inches?

Can I still drive it if the shocks are off?

No, but taking them off won't alter the height anyway. They don't support the bus, they absorb shocks. Let tyres down a bit or make your first job lowering it.

Or get some low profile tyres , should be able to lose a few inches with them on. Or bang on an adjuster on the beam. Low profiles should do it though. Exactly how much do you need ?? I got some low profiles on 14" rims so if you let me know, I could measure the overall height of the tyre and compare it with a standard one, just to see how much difference there is

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, All those little inches count,, don`t they :msn4:  :msn4:

leaving it on flat tyres will muller them :(

you would be better of buying the cheapest tattiest posche alloys with no tyres swap your wheels and roll it in and leave it on them.

whilst your feeling generous ozzie , my fridge is outta stella and the barbill at the pub needs trimming down, dont suppose you could stretch your generousity?

Well J.H. I`m a little overstocked on Stella at the moment   , with about 5 X cases of 20 down the garage :? Believe it or not, I don`t actually drink when I`m at home  just up the pub or when I`m partying wherever :? May even have to tip some of this away if it goes out of date    If I do,,,, I`ll send you some photos :msn4: Got a mate coming over from Oz on Monday,, That may be the exception to the rule, That should also put a bit of a dent in that little pile. I was only gonna measure those tyre sizes for him

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, Had you goin there din`t I,, ;)

He's right Ozzie. A very generous offer much appreciated. Cheers mate but I'm gonna change the wheels to some ****** ones.

if i get a pic of stella bein tipped down anywhere apart from a neck then i may have to take drastic action on the party concerned!!!!
theres bending the rules, but this is a crime i just cant put up with.........

hopefully the ozzie from oz round ozzie will see fit to help remady this problem and share in disposing said stella in the correct manner.

For winter storage, simply substitute some old, tatty second-hand wheels, with NO tyres fitted, which should give a few extra inches of clearance. :)

i dont seem to have a problem in our garage i dont see what all the fuss is about!!!!!!

I don't have a problem either, but I have always been fortunate enough, to have tall garages, which will easily accommodate a VW Type 2 Westfalia Continental campervan, with elevating roof & roofrack; even if I were to raise the suspension a few inches, for increased ground clearance. :D

My present garage has internal dimensions of about 30 feet x 11 feet, so there is plenty of space to work and I can partially elevate the elevating roof. :D
