Hi all, have fitted a new wheel and painted everything else incl ignition housing, column sleeve and indicator housing.

But now I have put it all back together and mounted it to the dash there seems to be slightly too much play between the ignition housing and the steering column? so if you grab hold of the ignition housing you can move it up and down the column a few mm either way.

Should they be bolted together somehow to stop this? or do they all move a touch?

Any help would be great as i want to get it back on the road and dont want the MOT failure

hmm anyone else? maybe it's supposed to give a little?

When i first put it back together i forgot to put the insulation washer back in and it was way too loose so had to take it all apart and put it in that made a difference but it still moves a little too much for my liking. Maybe i'm just being fussy and should expect it from a 40 year old bus!

I've just had a wiggle ;)

Mine is solid forward/back, and moves slightly with an up/down wiggle but not like anything is loose more like somethings flexing (as Araon \/ \/ \/ said ;)) .

thanks guys, flexing seems about right. there was a brace on my old dash so it was probably more secure. on the new one it's just bolted to a single skin piece of metal hence more flex than before.

Thanks again.
